My Future Mother-In-Law is very nice, we get along well, and she is making some contributions towards our wedding. Is it customary to invite her dress shopping? I really just want my mom and my bridesmaids but I don’t want any drama. I am already afraid there will be some because I am NOT having my Fiance sisters as bridesmaids . They are not very friendly, we rarely socialize with them outside of family events and even then they barely speak to me. However my brothers are groomsmen but we socialize regularly with them. The first family event after our engagement they didn’t even ask to see my ring so obviously they could care less. Will asking her shopping since they aren’t included make this better or worse? I am trying to keep the stress level and drama at a minimum.

@Sadiepoo: I didn’t ask my fmil to go dress shopping. But I did ask her to come with me and my mom to the first fitting. 🙂 I do wish I would have asked her to be a part of the inital picking of the dress. But, what’s done is done. I don’t think it would make it worse to invite her and not your FI’s sisters.

I asked my Future Mother-In-Law to go shopping with me, shes extremely sweet, and she also contributed to our wedding (I didnt know until after the dress shopping though)
She was ecstatic that I asked, and included her. I think most MIL’s want to have a good relationship with their FDIL’s and I think dress shopping is considered a very special and personal time, and including her in that would let her know you value your relationship with her.

I told Fiance that I was planning on asking Future Mother-In-Law to go shopping with me, anshe was really surprised. He said something to her about it, asking if she was interested in that, and she looked at him like he was crazy. She is not a girly girl by any means, and Fiance has never once seen her wear a dress or heard of her wearing one, so I guess it shouldn’t have come as a big surprise that she had absolutely no desire to go dress shopping with me lol. But she has two boys and no daughters, so I thought she might want to. Guess I was wrong haha.
