I am psyched that verizon finally is getting the iphone. While I’d like to get it as soon as possible, I have waited this long and am wondering if I should just wait a little longer and get the new version in the summer. What do you think and WHY? Thanks!

From what I’ve heard, they’re sort of rushing out the Verizon version, and I fully expect it to have lots of kinks. Plus, some of the things they’ve done with the other version aren’t available on the Verizon one (surfing the net while talking on the phone). I’m personally waiting until they work out the kinks, and hoping my blackberry will survive a few more months.

Oh my goodness, my husband is currently struggling with this decision! His iPhone 3G (yup, his is an oldie) is about to die, but he wants to wait to get the iPhone 5 when it comes out. If your phone can wait – I would wait for the iPhone 5. I don’t know if my husband’s phone will last that long though!

Fiance and I both have iPhones. He has the 4 and I have the 3Gs. I’m eligible for an upgrade this month but we will be waiting for the 5 to come out before we upgrade my line. Fiance owns a mac and iPhone development firm so he always has to have the newest phone for testing purposes. When the 5 comes out, we’ll upgrade my line and he’ll get the 5 and I’ll get his 4. We always wait for the newest to come out before upgrading. It could have some awesome features that you’ll regret not waiting for. Then you either have to wait a few years or shell out a boat load of cash to upgrade out of contract.
Fiance estimates the 5 will be announced in early Spring and will be released sometime this summer. That’s only a few months away. I would totally wait it out.

I bought the 3GS and the 4 came out within 1 month. I didn’t even try to exchange it but I think I could have. Anyway, I constantly wish I would have waited just a month and gotten it or tried to trade it but there was only a two day window and everybody had to wait for them since they were selling out and I thought it would be too much of a pain. I am ready for a new one now, but will wait for the 5, it’s just so soon. I always had really good phones, but I spent almost $400 for the 16gb after the screen protector, cover, tax and apple plan, etc etc. Its just so much money knowing there is a better one available.

From what I understand this is a Verizon thing not a function of the Iphone. My husband is with Verizon now and can’t multi task like that.
I’m currently impatiently waiting for the Iphone 5 but I’m with At&t and plan to stay there. I have a 3G and it is so painfully slow now but I am hoping it will hold out till the release the newest version.

I’m eligible for an upgrade in March, but fully plan on waiting until the newer Verizon version comes out. My Step-Dad is one of those have to have it now types, and I saw what happened with the bugs and kinks for the first couple of iPhones.
Plus, I don’t really know how the iPhone on Verizon will be different, I am hoping to check out a friend’s before we get ours.

I just ordered my iphone through verizon. I’d hold out for iphone 5, but my current phone is about to kick the bucket. It literally has a 5 minute battery life for calls and can sit off the charger with no calls for maybe 3 hours. I can send maybe 5 txts and its dead! I have a razor and it is time to put it out to pasture. I’m pretty excited about it 😀

I’m waiting. I was so excited when Verizon finally announced they were getting the Iphone, but I fully expect there to be a lot of kinks in the first version from all the stuff that I’ve been reading. I think the 5 is supposed to come out in July, if I’ve waited this long, I think I can wait a few more months.

Great thread! I am up for an upgrade in May with Verizon. I am pretty sure I am going with an iPhone. I guess at that point I will hear how the iPhone 4 Verizon release is going and decide if I want to go ahead and get the 4 or wait a few more months for the 5.
Does anyone know what the big difference will be between a 4 and a 5. Will these be true for the Verizon 5 as well?

i’m in the same boat! i’ve been waiting forever for this iphone, but i agree that i think there will definitely be kinks to work out in the beginning. plus, the iphone 5 is supposed to be amazing. i am fine waiting a bit longer 🙂
