@FutureMrs86:  I had the iphone 4s…until my Fiance and I were joking around one day, and I grabbed my phone from his hand, and long story short there was no case on it. A phone that is made of glass shatters very quickly when hitting a brick wall ๐Ÿ™

Anyways, I decided to get the 5…I still can’t tell the difference. It weighs a bit less and almost feels like plastic (and kind of cheap to me, honestly). The screen and phone is a bit longer. The camera quality is *a bit* better but barely.

To be honest its also a pain because the usb is a different charger than the 3’s and 4’s. So if Im out and my friends have an iphone and I need to borrow a charger I can’t unless they have the 5. Plus if you have an ihome or anything you have to replace it because it wont fit in the docking station.

To me it feels like it was just a marketing fad to get more to buy the 5. There is really no difference. I would stick to the 4S!

I’m going to upgrade to the 4s I believe. I don’t really want to spend $200 + on a phone when the 4s is just as good. I think the only real difference is the size of the screen.

Depends on the service you have and if LTE is available in your area.  4GS does not have LTE capability, iPhone 5 does which will make a marked difference in your network speeds.

I would find out if your area has LTE, if it does, it’s a no brainer.  Or I would personally hold out until the fall, I guarantee another phone comes out.

@FutureMrs86:  If you’re talking about aesthetics, they are similar.  But their components are not at all similar.  If you don’t care about that, get the 4s.

ETA: A6 processer (vs A5), 1GB of RAM vs 512, & LTE.  Plus the bigger screen.

@FutureMrs86:  Find a 4s on Craigslist or eBay and pay for it out of pocket, don’t upgrade your contract!

Here are the differences:

  • The 5 is longer and (slightly) slimmer. The larger screen allows for a fifth row of apps.

  • The 5 has a faster processor chip and can use 4G LTE

  • The 5 has a aluminum back. The 4S’s back isglass

  • The 5 uses the new power cord. The 4S uses the same cord as your 3G.

  • The 5 moved the audio (earplug) input to the bottom of the phone.

  • The 5 has an improved front and back camera (I believe)

So…if you want the latest and greatest go with the 5. If you want a larger screen go with the 5. Otherwise the 4S is fine. I have the 4S and know people who own the 5. I can’t see a reason to upgrade so I’m not. Hope this helps.

I have the 4S, and I love it. I’m eligible for upgrade this year, but Apple is really going to have to impress me this fall to get me to give up my 4S. It’s been a solid phone for me.

If I were you, for only $100 price difference, I would go ahead and get the 5. Before you know it there will be a “5s” or “6” or whatever and then you would not be far behind. The screen on the 5 is a little bigger and the phone is slightly thinner.

I have the 4s and my husband has the 5.  The only difference is the size and weight of the phone and the battery life.  His battery is always so much lower than mine for being off the charger for the same amount of time.

I was the same way though with the money.  $100 is $100!  I’d rather get the 4s and spend it on something else.

So what did you decide to get?

@Rubbs:  That’s what I’ve heard about the battery life!  That really sucks that the battery life drains so much quicker on the 5 than the 4s!!

I’ve also noticed that even if I don’t use my phone (though it’s always powered on) I have to charge it about every other day.  But my iPad, on the other hand, can be in sleep mode and hold battery life for like almost forever.

The 4S and the 5 are similar in that they both have Siri, but the 5 has a bigger screen, one extra row for apps, a better camera, a better processor, and has 4G capabilities. The 4S only runs on 3G. I can tell a big difference in service alone on my iPhone 5 with 4G LTE. I have service in places I never did before which is really nice. I love how light it is. At first it was weird for me to get used to the bigger screen, but I’ve since gotten used to it and really like it. It has a really good battery life.

Here’s a tip most of you probably don’t know. . .

Double tap your home icon (circle button on the bottom of the phone). All of your open apps will pop up. Hold down one of those apps and close out ALL of them to help save battery life. You’d be surprised how many people don’t close out their apps on a regular basis and waste their battery life because of this.
