My Fiance has a galaxy note and it is the worst made piecce of garbage I’ve ever seen.  It’s a year old and you can only hear him on speaker phone.  My mom has the galaxy 3 (less than a year old) and she’s on her second or 3rd batter.  I have the iphone 5, which is the same basic model as the 5c (when they came out with the 5s, Apple put colored cases on the iphone 5 and called it a 5c), and I have an occasional software quirk..but nothing like the issues Fiance has had with that Galaxy.  IMO, the apple products are better made.

RedheadMeggs:  I definitely agree with you.  FI’s droids always screw up after a few software updates and his hardware has totally malfunctioned since the phone barely works.  I hate it when he calls me.  I hate his phone so much I am considering giving him my upgrade in October if he agrees to switch to Apple…..

MrsGatito:  I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini which would solve your size issue.  I love it.  To keep it from getting glitchy is very simple:  Restart the phone at least once a day.  Install the free AVG anti-virus app which will run regular scans automatically.

I have a 5C, I don’t really need fancy features on a phone.  I browse the internet and play apps on it sometimes, but I really don’t need everyting a smartphone has to offer.  FI has an S4, the size alone is enough for me to not like it.

MrsGatito:  I recently went from the iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5S. I’ve had iPhones for years, since they brought the 3G out. The iPhone, not the network thing. I resisted it at first but I’ve never looked back. I adore my iPhone. They are popular and dominate the market in music, apps and more for a reason! My 5 is really fast, it doesn’t feel too big though it has a bigger screen than my older phone. But when compared to my old phone it’s lighter, thinner… more streamlined and modern! The 4S appears clunky by comparison. I love having my iTunes, audible, ebay, blogger, wedding bee, emails, phonecalls, imessages, whatsapp, photos, videos etc etc on my iPhone. The iPhone is so good you really don’t need a computer or laptop anymore.

Fiance just got the Galaxy S4 Mini, which is about the size of my iPhone, and he’s over the moon in love with it.

Right now I carry around the Samsung Note 3 for work and an iPhone 5c for personal calls. While I love them both and appreciate the features on both platforms that many PPs have noted above, for consistency, reliability, ease, and convenience, I go with the iPhone all day. The ease of use makes the iPhone the winner in my book. And while I enjoy playing with widgets and personalizaton on my Note, I find myself constantly worried about draining the battery or running too many programs.

The battery life on the iPhone is amazing! I haven’t had any problems going all day without a charge, if I charge to 100% before I leave in the morning.

I would personally go with the Galaxy S4. My dad has an apple and its so much more difficult to navigate than an android to me. My family always calls apple, crapple. Lol! Thats just my two cents worth.

Sunfire:  I don’t restart everyday but I do have AVG and I do not have issues others have.  Maybe AVG is the key.

I have the 5s and my DH has S4. Last fall I shopped around and compared everything that was out there. I adapted to the android OS when it was new and after a while I hated it because things didn’t always work especially default programs for texting ( had to download an app to make life easier). After that I switched to the 4s it was the best phone I ever owned never had any problem. Then for my brithday last fall my DH let me choose whatever phone I wanted so I researched every smart phone played around with them in the stores and with my friends phones too.  I was between the Moto X, IPhone,S4. For the moto x I didnt care for the quality. With the S4 there were just to much to it that I didn’t like with the size being an issue but also my previous experience with samsung phones not last that long. To me the iPhone was the best option the quality of their phones are superior, things just work, and a big selling point for me is that the copmany stands by their products. With the iPhone you will get updates for the next 3-4 years vs just maybe one or two with the android.

My biggest advice for when you do by an a smart phone is to pay for the insurance on the phones.

MrsGatito:  Yes, the camera has a zoom feature.

Also, the reason I chose the mini version is I have small hands so I’m less likely to drop it.  But the screen is full size, very close to if not the exact same size as the Galaxy S4.
