I admit to loving apple products and I don’t care if that’s because I’m a sheep who has bought into their marketing…I just love how they feel, how they look, and how they work! My husband bought me a white iphone 4s for Christmas (yay finally! I have sprint lol) but it doesn’t come in til tomorrow…til then want to hook me up with tips, must have apps, and even case recommendations?
eta: I already have an ipod touch so I’m pretty familiar with the basics!

I have none, but I am going to subscribe to this thread as I am getting an iphone.

“Incase” cases are nice. I have a pink glittery one from them and it’s held up well. My last “Incase” was on my 3GS from the launch until we upgraded me to the 4 a few months ago.
As for apps, I highly recommend the TomTom GPS app. It’s around $50 and worth every penny. It’s a full GPS with turn by turn directions (speaks street names, too). We don’t have an external GPS since we both have the TomTom app on our phone. With all of the vehicle breakins that have been happening lately, it’s nice to have everything in one handy device that goes everywhere with me.
Other apps that have been useful to me are “Verbs” which is an IM client and Instagram. Most of the other apps that I use are personal like BoA, AT&T and TiVo.

@UpstateCait: TomTom has an App!? Hmm, I have to send an email out to see how to get that for free from the company.

@UpstateCait: The tom tom app sounds pretty awesome! We have an old garmin, but the maps are so out of date it’s always getting confused when we go somewhere new lol.

Any other iphone users have tips/must haves? I know you guys are out there!

Not sure if you have to commute or not but i love the WAZE app – it shows traffic in your area, posted by other WAZE users, so you can figure out which routes to avoid. Luckily I only live about 6 miles from work but my husband works in the city so i always see what traffic is like for him coming home. you can report traffic jams, heavy traffic, construction, police visability and a lot more.
another fun thing – go to utilities – settings – general – keyboard – international keyboards – add new keyboard and find emoji – lots of different smilies and icons you can use it text messaging. to use just go to text messages and when the keyboard pops up click the little globe icon and you will see all your choices.

also – i downloaded the dolphin broswer as opposed to safari – it reads more like a browser (you can have seperate tabs as opposed to a ‘new page’)

@tksjewelry: Yep, I love it! It works just as good as any external GPS I’ve used.
@kate169: The good thing about the TomTom app is that it automatically updates. With external units you either can’t update it with new maps or you have to jump through hoops to do so. The update for the TomTom app comes right to the phone just like a normal app update. One click and you’re done.

I personally wouldn’t spend $50 on the TomTom app. They have a maps GPS that comes on the phone that works wonderfully. If you want someone to talk to you, you can download the mapquest app for free and they will talk the directions to you as you go just like TomTom would.

I second the TomTom app. It went on sale and we split it three ways with friends! So it was only like $10 for us. They just need our password when there’s an update, so no biggie to us! We love it though and it works great. I also like the pageonce bills app too to keep my finances in a row!

@totheislnds: I love WAZE too. We had a few problems the day after xmas trying to get navigation maps (I had to enter segments instead of final destination), but the live traffic is the best.

i love using the yelp app, instead of having to type in an addy into google maps, i look up the business on yelp and then tap the addy. it pulls up a map much faster that way.
love wikipedia app; solves a lot of discussions between Darling Husband and i when we can’t agree on certain facts.
hit the home button twice and it’ll pull up all the apps that are open on the phone. if you hold down the icon, it’ll start shaking and you can close them. i highly recommend closing out your unused apps so that the phone runs quicker and smoother.
home button + power button = screen shot

@vickyness: THANK YOU. I’ve had my iphone since April and I never knew how to do a screenshot– granted I never tried googling or looking it up, but still this is good to know!
