So I have my playlists all setup for cocktail, dinner, dancing, etc. However, I don’t have anything yet for the pre-ceremony!
Throughout the wedding, we are playing mostly rock (classic and modern alt-rock) and R & B before the “dancier” music starts. Even though the songs are very different, they blend well and I’m very happy with it! I was thinking of doing classical piano for the pre-ceremony but I think it would be too stark of a contrast with the rest of the music. So, I’m looking for some other ideas. Nothing country or too folky, please!

I think we are planning on playing songs from Explosions in the Sky before our ceremony. They play instrumental music, but not classical. I would suggest checking out Your Hand In Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdiY6kijYHE). Beautiful. They’re songs are longer (this one is 8 minutes) so you probably won’t need too many songs.

We did a lot of semi-classical music. So the Ten Tenors were featured pretty heavily, then we bulked it out with some Bocelli, because the husband and I are both big fans, and not all of his music is “too” classical (The Prayer, Dare to Live, etc.). We didn’t really need a big playlist for before the wedding, so we only had about 20-30 minutes of music.

We put all of our “a little too weird for anywhere else but important for us” music in the pre-ceremony playlist. Mostly music from movies, but a couple of others too. I feel like as long as you like the music and it’s appropriate for the time (slower, softer), use it!
Here are the actual songs we used in order, feel free to take any if you like them!
The City Surf by Jamin Winans
Together We Will Live Forever by Clint Mansell
There’s No Place Like Home by Michael Giacchino
Prelude: The Atlas March by Tom Tykwer
None The Richard by Michael Giacchino
The Chairman’s Waltz by John Williams and Yo-Yo Ma
An Historic Love by Trevor Morris
La Valse D’Amelie by Yann Tiersen
Meant to Be by Andrew Kaiser
A Quai by Yann Tiersen
Tonight from West Side Story
Ghosts That We Knew by Mumford and Sons
The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera
