I was sitting here about to rip my hair out and I actually felt nauseous with stress. Reason being, I’m trying to decide on an iPod wedding vs. a DJ. Lo and behold, I found the best compromise between the two: a company who has all the greatness of an iPod wedding (letting you pick ALL your songs/playlists/etc), but they provide the equipment and an MC, and it’s very cheap!
Anyway, has anyone ever heard of a place called Just Press Play productions? They’re in the Chicagoland area where I am, and from what I’ve read they’re great. THey have wonderful prices too. I was wondering if anyone knows any other vendors that provide this option as well – I realy like the sound of the one just mentioned, but I love to have options as well.
Fiance and myself are hankering for an iPod wedding, but I was worried about having an MC and the equipment, and Fiance wants basically all control of the music…this is the most perfect middle ground EVER.

Does your venue not provide equipment?

I wouldn’t spend a lot of money for that when you are already making the playlist and doing all the work yourself. A lot of venues have speaker systems or options to rent them, and there are places that let you rent them as well. You could always have a friend be MC. I understand your concern, we were thinking of doing an iPod wedding and ended up adding the dj for that same reason (way less to worry about on the day). Our dj is DJ drake (also in the chicagoland area) and he is letting us pick as many songs as we want, but he still has the freedom of order and to feel the crowd for which of our selections to play next to keep the dance floor crowded and all guests entertained. He is super reasonably priced too. I’d consider what you are looking into for a couple hundred bucks, but beyond that i think it is a waste of money.

@AlwaysSunny: I believe our venue provides speakers and a mic, but this DJ can provide the iPod and/or laptop for you if you can’t or don’t want to bring your own. They also have a Bose system which is awesome. Ha
@mgbser: Thanks for the tip, the iPod DJ quoted me at under $500 which is great for our budget. The reason why is because we originally were planning to buy our friend/guest a couple new speakers that he would let us use for the night which would probably be a couple hundred, then we would have to ask a guest to be an MC, and someone to man the iPod/be the ‘bouncer’ of the iPod so no one messed with it…and we would want to pay them at least a little bit. So I think it would end up being worth it even if it just knocks off the added stress of worrying how it would turn out, I’m all for it.
