I got my laptop and ipod (for back up) for our wedding next week and will have FI’s cousin to be the DJ for the night. I pretty much arranged different playlists for prelude, bridal party entrance, bride entrance, and recessional. I only care about the ceremony music being perfect, for our reception we will just play random songs. We just played with the sound system at our venue today it was great! Very budget friendly

I had a really small wedding (35 people). We decided not to have a DJ, because we didn’t think it would be appropriate for such a small wedding…we wanted something simple and classy, not flashy lights, a loud DJ, etc.
My now husband ended up making play lists, and setting up his laptop with speakers. He is REALLY good with choosing appropriate songs. I could not believe it, but EVERYONE was dancing!! Even his 90-year-old grandmother! Oh, and we let people choose songs from the laptop, if they wanted.
I am so glad I didn’t get a DJ. But, I think the reason it worked for us is that my husband chose great songs. Old ones, that people remembered from high school. Plus, the speakers he rented were good ones.
We had an outside ceremony, and his dad even played the music for that via the laptop/speakers.
