Is there anyway you can buy an older version of the shuffle?  I bought a shuffle last year (so, not the new model) and i LOVE working out with it.  I actually clip it on my waist band and string the headphones up the back of my shirt and it is SO much better than when I wore my iPod nano in an armband.  I don’t even notice it’s there and when I run outside I don’t get armband tan lines, lol!

I think it would be so worth it even if the headphones aren’t as good!

Really?!  That sucks!  Maybe they will change it in the next generation, how often do they come out with new generations?

I wish I could be of more help!!

I have the little lime green one.  I love it!  I mean the only bad part is that you can only go forward or backwards on it, not like you can choose what song to play next.  But I recommend it for working out with.

I have the new one and I love it! At first I was annoyed with the headphones, but so far I haven’t had any problems with them 🙂

I have an iPod shuffle and am in love with it. It’s so tiny and perfect for workouts, as well as on plane rides and by the pool.

I do not like the ipod headphones at all, so I would never go with the new shuffle, but I have the old model as well and love it.  It clips right on your shirt and if you drop it (which I do too much) it doesn’t actually drop b/c it’s so light the headphone string holds it up.

You can get an adaptor thingy that slides over the new shuffle and puts buttons like the old one in place. Then you can use whichever headphones you like. The bad news is the adaptor is like $30 so you’re better off paying for the old model on ebay. Also it’s less cute than the old one (it matters! LOL). My bf just got the new shuffle/adaptor so he could pipe it into his snowboarding helmet without worrying about ruining his iphone. The nano is also really small and I bet you could get a case that clipped onto workout clothes easier.

I have the older version clip on one and I love it. It’s perfect for working out. All the headphones I’ve used with it have worked so maybe it would be a good investment to spend a little more and be able to use your own headphones? 🙂
Sorry I have no experience with the newest version!

You can also check the Apple Refurbished section of their online store. Right now they don’t have the Shuffle but sometimes they will sell old generations. They have some older generation Nanos there which are smaller than an iTouch and work well for exercising.
