We went in for an ultrasound yesterday. My first ultrasound was actually in the ER on October 4th. At that time, I measured 5 weeks 3 days. Yesterday, we measured 6 weeks and 6 days, which is right where we should be. The baby’s heart rate was 124. The doctor is concerned about the shape of the gestational sac because it is a bit wavy along the border instead of being smooth. She said there was 50/50 chance I could miscarry. She also said the baby’s heart rate was on the low side of normal. She said normal is between 120-180 bpm. I’m attaching a photo from the ultrasound yesterday. Has any else experienced anything like this?

greenidlady: I am so sorry to hear this but please dont lose hope. I went in to get an ultrasound for dating very early b/c I had extremely long and irregular cycles so no idea when I ovulated. The first ultrasound was at 5w5d – at that time they said the heartbeat was slow at 95bpm and that the gestational sack was too large (it was round though not irregular) they told me that odds were I would miscarry but to come back in a week to see the growth. I went back a week later and baby was growing like it should and the heartbeat was 135. So far – I am almost 19 weeks with our first baby. Please dont give up hope – like you I was totally stressed but there is nothing you can do just relax and don’t stress yourself.

krstino1012: Thank you for your response. I’m glad everything turned out okay for you and I hope it continues to go well. I’m hoping our baby turns out just fine too. We go back for an ultrasound next Tuesday.:-)
