Get more cupcakes but buy them someplace reasonable!!! We have a grocery store here that has way better cupcakes than the fancy stores for like 50 cents a cupcake.

@jenny001:  Our caterer recommended 1.25 cupcakes per guest.  We followed his advice and had a few (but not many!) left over, so in your case I would not order fewer than 70 cupcakes.

Cupcakes seem to be the theme lately, and I have been to multiple weddings were there are not enough cupcakes. I would say at least 1.5 or have another optional dessert there. I know it sounds like a lot, but you hate for not everyone to have one especially if they are different flavors.

The last wedding I went to that had cupcakes I think almost everyone at our table had two, and my fiance lost count! They also had like 5 different flavors so we wanted to try them, that might have made a difference if there had only been one flavor.

I think you will definitely run out with 1 cupcake per person, and I don’t think a sign like that is all that polite. Sorry!

I’m not syre what you mean by “dinner guests” and “evening guests,” but it doesn’t really matter.

I would order 1.5 cupcakes per person (90) and reserve 21 for the “evening guests,” if they’re arriving after the “dinner guests” will have had at the cupcakes.

You can plate the cupcakes out to the table, so if there are 8 seats at a table, there are 8 cupcakes put on that table.

If you are having a buffet (after dinner so will include evening guests) then just put out cupcakes then so everyone will be there, also, cut your cake up and have that served out. I’m not sure about a sign, but I think most ppl would just take one and then go back up for another if any are left?

What if you planned to serve some of the 6″ cake with a few key people, like parents and/or siblings? That would free up some of the cupcakes for other guests, and I think if you limited it to really close family it wouldn’t really be a case of “treating some guests differently than others” especially because it’s the same cake from the same baker. I think if you did that you’d be okay.

I’d personally order a few extra. Some people might not think of the fact that you made your order to cater to everyone having just one. You could even bake a few home made ones to keep in the kitchen at your reception as “incase cupcakes” and you could bring them out if you see that some people are having more than one. You could even place the cupcakes on the guests tables, so that they’re ready for them. For example, if there are 6 people at the table put 6 cupcakes on it Smile

I’m on a diet and would probably still have 2+ cupcakes.
