Not at all.  FI and I became engaged Christmas Eve 2010 and are still engaged.  Our wedding is October 13th.  It’s been great for us.

An engagement can be for as long as you and your Fiance see fit! We are waiting 22 months for certain reasons and I’m really loving all the extra time and less stress so far!! Do what it best for your relationship situation!

Absolutely not! That’s a reasonable amount of time.

I don’t think so, I want my ring asap! Even though we’re probably going to wait anywhere between 1.5-2 years because of study commitments, money and immigration stuff. I feel like, well, if we intend to get married we should get engaged and if we’re engaged I should be wearing my ring!

I’m not engaged yet (please please soon!) but we wouldn’t be getting married until Fall 2014. We’ve been together 4.5 years.

I sure hope not. Our engagement will be 2 1/2 years.

We started planning our wedding 18 months out and STILL had to rearrange plans because the venue we wanted was booked on our church’s available date and vise versa. I don’t think 18 months is too long.

Our wedding date is (now)  exactly 18 months from our engagement date. We had moved it because we just needed more time to plan and save up.

I have a 2 year 3 month engagement and we just started making actual  plans (booking venue) so I think 18 months is a good length for an engagement. That way you can start thinking about the type of wedding you want and looking at venues without feeling rushed later. I spent the first 8 months doing a lot of research and figuring out what I liked and I’m glad I had time to do that.

We had a three year long engagement, which was a little too long, but a year and a half? Piece of cake. Enjoy your ring!

I’m not quite engaged [one more ring payment!], but I’m guessing it will happen either in April or May, for sure. We’re not planning on getting married until September of next year, so we’ll be engaged for 16-17 months. I don’t think it’s too long at all. I have a ton of stuff I’m DIYing, so I need plenty of time to do it, plus we need time to save money for everything else. Whatever length that’s right for you is what’s the “right” amount to be engaged.

I heard that 1 1/2 years is actually the average engagement time for the US.

My Fiance and I are having a 1.5 year engagement as of right now. I think it is a perfect amount of time, and pretty normal. Instead of feeling rushed, enjoy your Fiance and your engagement! <3

My Fiance and I are having just under a year and a half enagagement and it’s been wonderful for the most part!  Yeah, sometimes i just want to hurry it up and be married already, but the planning thus far has been relaxed, because we’ve had so much time to think about everything and space it out.

It’s also just fun to say your engaged so why not enjoy it a little longer 🙂
