Is 2 cups of decaf coffee ok in first trimester? Thanks
Is 2 cups of decaf coffee ok in first trimester? Thanks
I think even more than 2 cups of decaf would be fine. It’s 200mg of caffeine per day so even 2 normal cups would be fine!
My RE said that two caffeinated beverages a day are fine so decaf wouldn’t be an issue.
35 weeks I drink just regular coffee, my OB said that up to 2 cups a day is perfectly fine
Two cups of REGULAR coffee would be fine in the first trimester–and after– (source, have researched this a fair amount, am currently pregnant.) Decaf is, by extension, more than fine.
Try reading Emily Oster’s book, “Expecting Better” and then look up some more recent studies if you want to know more.
Why would you limit decaf? I think you’re good with any number of cups.
I would drink 5 cups of decaf some days lol. That’s why I do decaf! So I don’t have to limit myself. I did the math out once and you’d need some absurd amount of decaf to hit your 200mg limit. Enjoy your coffee!
I drank regular coffee both my pregnancies. One cup, and on some days two. I second Emily Oster’s book. Pregnancy is tough enough without the needless caffeine deprivation.
So you are more than fine drinking as much decaf as you could reasonably want. But you could also drink up to 2 cups of caffeinated coffee if that’s your preference.
Thirding Emily Oster’s book Expecting Better! (Also Cribsheet for when baby is here.) Great way to ease anxiety about a lot of things relating to pregnancy and babies!
