Hi September bees, I need some opinions/advice. Ok, I got engaged on Christmas, and due to the nature of my work, January and the first half of February was out of the question for any serious wedding planning. Therefore, I was not able to schedule our engagement picture session until Feb 26. My problem is, our photographer is designing our save-the-dates with our engagement pics and she told us it would be about three weeks until the pictures were ready, and then about another three for her to design them, have me approve the design, and then order them and have them shipped to me. I don’t know why but I didn’t even think about ordering them taking that long! So, if I do save-the-dates (which I REALLY want to do!) then they probably won’t be here until about mid-late April, and then I will have to address 125 envelopes so they probably won’t be mailed until the last week of April/first week of May. My wedding is going to be Saturday September 10, and I am planning on sending invitations about 8 weeks out. So, bees if you have made it this far I really appreciate it and I need you to tell me if the beginning of May would be ok to send out my STD’s or if I should just forget about them? Thank you!! 🙂

If it is something you really want to do then go for it!
I didn’t do STD’s, just going to send invites out early.

I’ve gotten all the save the dates for friends weddings VIA email. Is your photographer able to give you a copy in pdf? This way you can send VIA email to those people who you know will use this, and send a few out in the mail for people who’s email you dont have or who dont use email (like older relatives). This should hopefully save you some time.
I also agree with the idea of sending invites out early. Four months doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.

we decided not to do save the dates becuase of the time frame ( and to save some money)…everyone that is coming to the wedding already knows that were engaged and when the wedding is, we will just send out the invites a little bit early!

I don’t think so, I just sent mine at the beginning of this month (which would make it about 5 months away from the date). It’s really up to you, there aren’t any “rules” for this kind of thing, after all they are your save-the-dates!

I say send them if you want. I just started planning our September 3 wedding & I am hoping to have our STD out by late April. Good luck!

Thanks girls! I just got my STD’s in the mail yesterday- I am going to hopefully have them in the mail by Monday the 25th, I don’t think it will be too late! Thanks again! 🙂
