I think $80 is a bit on the high side, but asking $40 of the girls is not.  Maybe they just think the total cost should be less…

That’s a pretty good price based on what I’ve seen in Seattle.

Really….

$40 I would say is a deal, especially if they are coming to you.  I would say a good price is prob $50-$60.

$225 seems WAY TOO high!!

Well, I would say $40 isn’t too much, but $80 certainly is.  All of the make-up artists I found in my area were anywhere from $35-$50.  Even to travel was cheaper than $80.  However, you offering to pay is very nice, and I doubt you’ll find anything cheaper than $40.  So if your girls don’t want to pay that, does the make-up artist do a-la-carte items?  Like, your girls do all of their foundation, concealer, etc and then the artist does their eyes?  Or their eyes and lips?  I found a few make-up artists that do that in the Dallas area…might be an option.

I think requiring your BMs to pay any amount of money is for makeup or hair is not OK.  I could effectively do my own makeup for basically nothing.  I would not be happy if a bride expected me to pay $ to have a pro do it.  If it’s simply an offer, that you’d pay for half if they were interested in having it done professionally, then I think $40 isn’t too bad.

Well, as long as they know it’s “optional”…you can’t expect them to get any services done for your wedding, besides the dress, unless you pay for it 100%.  It seems high to me, but it really depends on your area.

I have never worn fake lashes and would feel kind of weird if my friend expected me to wear them as a Bridesmaid or Best Man.

depending on where you live, $80 may be the average rate. it is high, but it’s all relative. $40 does not seem like that much to me to ask them to pay, but you know their situations better.  maybe you could give it to them as an option–as in, if you would like your makeup professionally done, i would love to pay for half of it, but it’s not a requirement.

I’d pay $40 to get my makeup done in a heartbeat!  I think it’s really sweet for you to offer to do half.  But, I wouldn’t worry about it any of the girls opt out.
