Frankly, for me it wouldn’t be long enough. I LOVE to travel–and if I’m traveling far from home, I usually want to take full advantage of the place. I’m the type who would rather stay somewhere less expensive so I could stay longer or travel around more…but not everyone is that way. My aunt hates to travel, and a week is about her limit, no matter where in the world she travels. So…to each her own, I say. Length of stay will really depend on your personality and budget.

For our honeymoon, we’re traveling to Tahiti, so we want to really have time there (it’s like a 8-9 hour flight). We’re doing a 10-night cruise (so that we can see more islands and save money on food), plus 5-7 nights in hotels, depending on what we can afford. We COULD do the whole trip for around $5,000…but we want 3-4 nights in an overwater bungalow in Moorea, so that’ll put us about $1,000 over. That said, we have frequent flyer miles so we’re not spending a dime on airfare. That would’ve made this trip MUCH more expensive.

We are going to the Riviera Maya for 6 nights. I also was thinking it would be too short but we are planning on just chilling most of the trip. We will plan 1-2 excursions and the rest we are just going to be beach bums. I think 6 days of that is plenty 🙂

@MrsN14:  Sounds about right to me! We’re staying in Napa Valley for 5 nights/ 6 days. We’re getting into San Francisco pretty early so we’re planning to hang out in the city before going to the vineyards to stay and then we’re doing the same thing on our last day since we have a late flight. So make the most of your time!

We did 7 nights and I felt that wasn’t long enough. I wanted 10 but couldn’t with my husband’s work schedule.

We’re only going for three nights, but it’ll still be nice to get away & lay on the beach for a while. We’ve got a big trip already planned for November so we’re both strapped for vacation time because of that, so I guess I can’t complain too much!

We did a honeymoon to Kennebunkport, Maine this July and honestly 3 nights was PLENTY— but it’s hot now where we live so we weren’t really dying for the “tropical escape” like us Northern NYers do in the winter.

We are doing 5 nights in the Mayan Riviera (in December) too! I really think it will be fine beauseI went there before for 5 nights (with my ex haha) and it was perfect. Go to the ruins or Xel-Ha or Xcaret one day then relax on the beach and I bet it will be fine.

Sometimes when trips are a little short you appreciate it more.

I’d take a lower room (do you actually need 2 stories?! You’ll never use all that space!!) and more time. 5 nights is not that long.

We could only afford 4 nights at the resort we’re staying at, but we’re extending our honeymoon in more affordable ways. We’re spending an extra night at the hotel where we’re getting married, 2 nights at our own apartment (and doing “staycation” stuff we’ve always wanted to do), a less-expensive hotel on the way to our honeymoon destination, 4-night honeymoon, and another night at a less-expensive place on the drive home. We’ll  have 9 nights of vacation after our wedding in a way that is luxurious and afforable for us!

It should be fine, just make sure to squeeze in Chichen Itza!

We were originally looking into Atlantis in the Bahamas for 5 days, which was in budget.  But we ended up deciding a longer honeymoon somewhere less expensive would be better since we NEEEEEED the rest!  So instead, we’re heading to Orlando for 10 days.  Five full of theme park goodness, and five days to relax and roam about where we’d like 🙂

It sounds nice but i would go longer. My DH thinks that anything less than three weeks is a waste. i dont think that but two weeks. thats perfect. We went to tulum and the yucatan for two weeks. It was pretty nice and im super glad we stayed that long. We had a private room in a hostel for cheap. we were barely there anyway. if you can make it longer, try but it sounds like your room is really sweet!.  the only time i have ever thought i was gone too long was las vegas. five days and i was done. No matter you will have fun!!
