We are booking our photographer for 7 hours and I am not sure if that is enough time. The ceremony starts at 4 PM. My bridesmaids and I are going to be getting ready probably at 12:30 to be done by 1:30 (goal is really 2) for first look photos. The wedding will end around 10:30 pm probably, but I don’t think we need many pics after the first several dances and cake cutting. We could always add extra hours, but after shelling out $7,400 I hate to spend an extra $600 more per hour.

For your start and end times 7 hours sounds good. You will probably want them there from around 2pm for getting ready/ first look photos until 9pm (after a few dances and into the evening). Depending on your timeline and priorities you could have the photographer earlier to get more getting ready photos (1pm-8pm) or if dinner finishes late then you could do 2.30- 9.30 or something.

7 hours should be plenty to cover all the important stuff. My photographer will be staying 6 hours because, like you, we didn’t think we needed a bunch of repetitive pictures of everyone dancing at the end of the night.

do you want pics of your exit? our original photog. contract had her only working 6 hours (ceremony 3:30, reception over at 9) and we were going to have to “stage” an exit earlier in the reception before she left. Also what about getting ready pics?
I’m with you, I did not want to pay anymore $$$ then I already was. but I will tell you my very favorite pics from the day are from towards the end of the reception when everyone was buzzed and on the dance floor. (our original photog moved away and we had to get a different one who didnt have a set hour policy for weddings).

I am doing 8 hrs because we are having a grand exit with sparklers. Each additional hr for us is 100 dollars. For 600 each additional hr I would be changin up my timeline and grandexit plan real quick. I think 7 hrs will be good enough for you since you will have all the important pictures taken earlier on in the day
