Yes it is! With that said. You also need to take into account what your “must haves” are.  ex: your wedding dress, you need to move quick and order one within the next 2 months.  If you live in a largely populated area, some reception sites might be booked.

Is it possible? Yes.  Will you have to do somethings soon, yes.

Try not to stress though.  The only things I think get booked up quickly are reception sites, ceremony sites, photographers, and ordering a wedding dress. Everything else doesn’t need as much time.

Good luck. Congrats on your engagement!

I work with a couple that got engaged at Christmas and got married the first weekend of October.  They had to make concessions since some things they wanted were already booked (however the start of October is not the most popular wedding season, most people get married in the late spring/summer/early fall here).  I think the biggest thing is making sure you book everyone up quickly, and you probably won’t be able to do as my DYI stuff unless you are crazy!  🙂

Sure it’s enough time.  I agree with a pp though that you might not get the specific vendors you want as in some areas August can be a very popular wedding month.  Just don’t try to take on too many DIY projects and you will probably stay saner if you learn to delegate sooner than later!  I got engaged the end of August and if weren’t for the fact my dress isn’t here yet, we honestly could get married by the end of the year- so that’s 4 months of planning.

That’s exactly how much time we have and so far so good.  We have heard that with the economy the way it is many vendors are more available and that couples are not planning that far in advance as before.  When we began searching for venues there were only 2 out of something like 20 that were taken on our date.  I would definitely look into the 2 biggest things first, ceremony location and reception venue.  Good luck and best wishes, you def can do it!

We just got engaged at the end of October and are having our wedding in July. We got our ceremony/reception site booked right away. Didn’t get the date we wanted but it was close enough. We just booked our Dj last week and we’re meeting with our photographer in 1 week. I’m planning on going dress shopping in January. That takes care of the major stuff. The only other one I want to get done soon is book the officiant. We’re getting married in a room in the hotel so need someone to marry us.

Everything else is easy. Invitations, cake, favors, etc… come pretty easy.

Eight months is plenty of time!  I’m planning mine in 3.  We decided in October to get married in January.  Once you find and book a venue, everything gets a lot easier (especially if there’s an on-site coordinator)!  Don’t worry you’ll be fine!

Easily!  We did it in 6 months for 200 people!  Congratulations and good luck!

Its plenty of time as long as you already have the money saved up for the wedding, or would be able to do so within the next couple of months. (Depends on your budget too, of course). I’d def look into venues first, as we booked ours in April 2009 and almost every weekend except for 2 were already booked for the entire summer (june to August) of 2010!!

We did it in 8 months, and I think I could have feasibly done it in 6.  Just be realistic about how many projects you can take on!
