I read in the paper that the average here in the UK is a quarter carat. Considering most jewelers outside of the london met district don’t normally stock anything above a carat that makes sense. Your stone would be massive compared to most european rings in general if that helps? XD

i have a 3/4 carat center stone which was also my fiance’s grandmothers and it is perfect! it’s a halo setting with pave diamonds down the sides. i have long, slender fingers and we decided that a bigger stone would look overpowering

Can I please ask where this 1 carat rule came from? Because My fiance’ heard it too and because of him hearing it it took him an extra year to propose cause he was saving more money. When I told him it didn’t need to be 1 carat because that didn’t matter to me he proposed within a few months. My  ering center stone is .61 and total is 1.02 (I have the appraisal ).  and I think it’s PERFECT!!!!With the Wedding Band It’s 1.62

Mine is a 0.48ct center stone. My ring size is 5. Like many others, I tried on 1 and 2ct diamonds and they looked gaudy and too large on my hand. I LOVE my ring and don’t care if it is the “average” size or not. Who cares? Also, we went for a smaller, super high quality diamond instead of a larger, lower quality one. Besides, with the halo setting it looks as large as my mom’s 1ct solitaire.

@his chippymunk:  mine is .81 princess center.

Don’t think it’s too small but would love to have a bigger stone one day. 🙂

@badzipper:  I fricken love your ring. I think Marquise soiltaires are so classy. I have the same ring size as you and I think .5-.75 cts is the perfect size for a marquise.
