Do you think it’s small? Are you worried others will think it’s small?

I think .5 carat rings are lovely.

Sounds perfect to me! I’m a size 6 with a .42 carat (round solitaire) so yours will look larger than this, so depends on what look you’re going for.

.5 is plenty, but I would look at the actual  mm measurement.

No. I have a 0.5 carat solitaire which in the real world is a decent size. I’ve found weddingbee sort of distorts the average and makes anything smaller than a carat seem small.

My engagement ring is I little over 0.6 center stone and I wear a 7.25. I think 0.50 is a good size, my ring only looks “small” when I am hanging out with my cousins from NYC and even then it’s doesnt stand out as a bad size.

I think .5 is great. I agree it’s normal in the real world. I have a .47 and it’s on a 6.5 to 7 hand lol. The size is nice. It is an heirloom stone so it’s what I have. I used to get all anxious about it and thought everyone was probably judging it but in reality people weren’t. It has even stopped looking small and actually seems decent now. It will never look like a 2 carat no, but only on the internet or places where people have no filter or manners is a half a carat small on anybody lol

helpme1122 :  should look perfect imo, I have a .2 ctw cluster/halo type style on a size 4.5 and it works out to about 6mm total up and down, which is what a ct to mm chart says a .5 oval would be, and I think anything bigger would look awkward on me.

0.5 is great. I have quite the large hands, but my stone is 0.6 and it doesn’t look small, just appropriate.

I don’t think it will be too small at all! I have a .5 carat on a size 6 finger and I think it’s a great size. Since your finger is smaller, it will look even bigger on you!

In addition to my initial comment about 0.5 carat being a decent size in the real world – I agree with PP about going by the measurement too because diamonds that are the same carat face up differently. How big or small a diamond will look also depends on the size of the finger.

My finger size is a 6 – 6.5 and my engagement ring has a 0.5 carat solitaire. You’ll notice it’s size looks different to other 0.5 carat solitaires. Ovals generally look larger than solitaires too because of their cut.

Here is an image of my 0.5 ring on my hand 🙂
