I think that if you’re going to wear the engagement ring on a different hand it could probably work (I’d say that if you think of wearing your ering, 5mm will probably be too thick). I think the best thing to do is what another bee already suggested – to go to jewlery stores and try it on. I’ve done that to decide on my setting 🙂

I would go with the 2mm if you’re going to wear an engagement ring with it…
Side note: I love this ring!! Do you mind telling me where you found it?

Yes sorry what an oversight! It’s from this Etsy shop:
I’ve also been looking at some of the ones from this shop, which has more of a variety of colours:

Thanks so much! It seems like we have really similar tastes 🙂

FutureMrsPatterson Yup! 🙂 Okay now I’m drooling all over the colourful rings from that second Etsy seller…I think I might like these even better!
I took a couple of pictures of my SO’s 5mm ring along with a couple of my stacking bands. They are 2.5mm and 3mm each, so that’s over 10mm altogether on my finger! Obviously I wouldn’t combine these styles, but just in terms of thickness, it doesn’t actually look that bad. I mean, I surprisingly still have room on my long spindly finger, lol. What do you bees think?

Oh wow! You have lots of room!!

I think I voted for the 3mm, but seeing now that you have such elegant long fingers (and I hate you for that ), I think 5 would look beautiful.

I really like the look of the 5mm band, like you said you get to enjoy the design that way. just saw your actual hand. I think it looks great!

i voted before i saw your actual hand.
now i think you could pull off the 5mm. without stacking.
go for it girl!

I like the 5mm because you can see more detail.

@ ilaz, I’m petite here also; 3.5 ring size, but I am partial to substantial bands. My ering is 3.1mm and the three stone heirloom is 3.5mm. I have long fingers so that helps the bands not to look/feel overwhelming. Love the sturdy look of a wider band. Tried to get a side pic to get the mm visual to be somewhat clear. Hope this helps.

I Just noticed the question was particularly about 5mm, and not just wider bands in general, ugh. Anywho, I agree with the poster that said there can be more detail on a 5mm, that is such a creative point of view. *thinks I might apply this for wring, hmm

Hehe I don’t think 5mm is too thick, and in regards to the original post, I think the 5mm looks way better than the 3mm. Mine’s 8.5mm thick on a size 4.5 finger. I have really long fingers though, longer than my husband’s fingers!

I love the color of your ring!!! And so different. I think either size looks nice, however, as you said – the design can be seen better on the thicker band. I thought I was partial to thinner bands, but my husband surprised me with a thick band e ring! And – I – LOVE – IT !
My e ring is 6 mm, my wedding band is 2 mm, and my third ring is my husbands – it’s 4 mm.
