We are using a birdcage for our cards.  I think it just makes it easier for guests, otherwise they’ll be asking each other all night what to do with their cards!

Most weddings I’ve been to have a “card box” or something similar, and I plan to, also. My understanding that it’s a security thing, too. I have heard of people who’s cards are rifled through and money stolen 🙁 I am having a card box and then leaving someone in charge of putting the card box somewhere safe once all the guests have arrived.

You could have a card box, but the way you worded it made it seem like it was specifically for money.  That would not be appropriate, but yes- it is fine and good to have a card box of sorts.  I have seen this everywhere.

I think it’s just a practical thing.  Can you imagine picking up 50+ loose envelopes and transporting them to your vehicle etc?  It’s the quickest way to have them all gathered up safe together.

Something low key that just says “cards” is the way to go. Otherwise, things could be easily lost or “walk off”….

Aww, I hope not! I was hoping to do this for my monetary gifts and cards.

Nope, card boxes are the norm, and they keep your gift table organized.  Can you imagine all the envelopes that would be everywhere on your gift table otherwise?  They’d be falling off the table and getting lost and stuff.

I’m doing a birdcage and I don’t think it’s tacky at all. Like it’s said before, you need a place to have all the cards gathered together, so thy won’t get lost/stolen.

not tacky – its necessary. people wont think its tacky if someone walks off with your cards they will think its a tragedy! get a box with a lock 🙂
