Yes. A MOG should never ever ever wear black.

I've heard the rule but wouldn't think much about it.

    No, it's perfectly fine.

I didn't even know there was a problem with wearing black.

@loveinthelibrary:  really? I had no idea and have totally worn red to weddings. Oops! I hope no one was mad. People can totally wear whatever they want to my wedding, even white, cause I’m wearing a sparkly nude evening gown. 🙂

For what it’s worth, I’m young and I know that rule. I think it only looks bad when the MOG wear a black dress as a way to show she doesn’t support the marriage. So some older people may wonder if the MOG approves of you getting married. Personally, if I had a good relationship with MOG then I wouldn’t care at all. Plus, t more formal weddings many people wear black, and that’s fine.

My mom wore black and I don’t think anyone batted an eye. As long as she’s not wearing a black veil or something I think you’re good, lol.

My Mother-In-Law wore a black skirt with a black top (and some silvery sequins on it). I didn’t bat an eyelash. She actually, as much as I hate to admit this since she grinds my gears, wanted to make sure her choice of a dress was ok with me since she grew up knowing that black was only for funerals. Me, DH, and Father-In-Law all voted on the black outfit because it flattered her. No one made a commment about it.
