So….Just need a mini vent and to pose a question to my lovely fellow Bees! Would you be upset if your Fiance got your ring at walmart, even though it came with a certicate for the diamond??? My SO and I are still browsing rings, Im a nurse and hes a full time farmer, and we are saving to build a house hopefully in the next 5 years, and I personally think its insaine to follow the old attage that it should be like 2-3months of his pay into it, when your on the farm, you pay your bills do what you need and the rest goes back to some part of the farm, I have been browsing rings for over 5 months now, and the while they are beautiful I just dont know if I would want the equivalant of a car ($$$ worth) in this economy on my hand….If you love it rock it no matter how much it costs right??? thats what I thought until I started posting on here, yall have been super supportive of my lesser expensive ring posts. I currently was browsing walmart waiting on my perscriptions to be done when i wandered by the jewlery section again, to browse at what I thought I wanted…then I saw IT! I think its beautiful and so I took a pic (below) and showed the SO and he adores it as much as I do, he about fell over when he heard the price $280 and the band i found was $65, he couldnt believe it, he thought it would be very expensive, and couldnt believe I found it at walmart! So encouraged by his enthusiasm I sent a pic to a very select few of my girls! the response i got flabbergasted me! Out of 6 girls all 6 loved it! then when I said where I found it 4 of them freaked and were almost rude saying they were horrid quality and fakes, and if my SO really loved me hed go to a “Real Jewelry Store” and get one….2 of them were super understanding and it didnt bother them in the least….so when I got home I did some searching, and I couldnt believe the things I found people saying! It had nothing to do with the quality of the ring, it was all about how it wasnt from KAY or Zales ect, one girl even posted she would break up with her Fiance if hed gotten her a walmart ring….
Completely disturbed by this I did more research and compared rings, I compared the marquise solitaire I love love love from Walmart to one identical to it from a regular jewelery store i think it was Zales, and the price difference was an astounding $300 for absolutely no difference besides where you buy it, color, cut, clarity, and carat were all identical, I was shocked!
So ladies let me here a sound off…Does it really HONESTLY matter where it comes from or is it all hype???
Im so in love with hopefully my future E-Ring: Its a round stone with a small halo in a silver band, with a slightly raised setting! Im not buding on the ring choice i like it….but is it really that big of a deal that people just assume its inferior because of where it came from??? Even though its the EXACT same thing, and has a certificate???
not the best pic….but it is a round center stone with smaller rounds forming a halo, on a beautiful pail band(not up to date on all the terminology yet!)….when people see it no clue its from walmart, soo what is the real deal here???
