My Fiance and I love high tea and we wanted to have that for our reception not because we were being cheap, but because we love the food. We live in LV and are having an afternoon ceremony and 2 hour reception so that people can then go have an amazing fun vacation out of this without our wedding taking up their entire Sat Night if that makes sense. There are lots more fun things to do on a Sat night in Vegas than a wedding reception.
But yesterday my 16 year old son said that the food was too light for the time of day – help? Would you expect a heavier meal than the following
Assorted Tea Breads
Scones with Cream, Preserves and Lemon Curd
5 kinds of tea sandwiches (some with meat, some with non meat for vegetarians)
2 quiches 1 with meat and 1 without
4 kinds of tea pastries
tea and coffee
champagne
bar
PLUS we were going to add 1 station such as a crepe station (savory) or donut station or possibly just more variety on the the sandwiches and quiche above
Am I being paranoid listening to my 16 year old?

Just make sure you put that it’s a tea in your invitation…tea to follow ceremony, or something like that.

I think that sounds great and really yummy! I do think the the savory crepe station is a good addition. Most important thing is to make sure you have enough of the more substantial foods like the quiche and sandwiches so that they don’t run out early, leaving some guests hungry!

I think it sounds great. As long as you have ENOUGH. People might just eat more of what you do have to offer.

I think this sounds really fun and a little different, but not so different it’s weird 🙂 if that makes sense!
I personally would go NUTS at the crepe station.

@cbee: Thanks we are at the Four Seasons and they are catering so I am not worried about running out – they are known for their lavish spreads 🙂

I would be perfectly happy with this. It sounds delicious to me. However, my husband would absolutely need to go somewhere else afterwards to get a full meal. And he would probably get cranky at some point during the afternoon because of this. You may want to have your Fiance ask around to some of his man friends to see how they react.

I think its hard to just if its “enough” without knowing quanity to number of guests. it seems like enough variety, but you just need enough food. you’ll have some guests who skipped lunch and will be hungry. And if you have kids/teenagers, they’ll probably eat more. Just make sure its a good ratio.

I am planning a High Tea reception as well! We’ve added in cheese and crackers along with some dips and veggies to be served on the side of the room half way through the tea.
