Lately I’ve been pretty obsessed with the idea of a photo booth for our reception. They look like a ton of fun but it is another expense that we would have to fit into our budget.
Has anyone either had one for their reception or been to a reception with one? What are your thoughts on them?

I think so. Nothing sucks more than being at a boring wedding. We figured it’d be a great way to keep people entertained, especially since we’re doing an iPod/sound system wedding rather than having a DJ/band.

I’ve attended a wedding with a photobooth. It was so much fun and I loved the picture strip as a favor. It’s something we’ll be adding to our wedding.

I think they are worth the money, if you can afford one. Like middy00 mentioned, they make great favors so you don’t have to provide other favors. I just can’t wait to get home and see all of the awesome photos that people took. (I think most of the time you get 2 sets of each strip, one for the guest and one for the B & G.) So much fun and great memorabilia of the big day!

We really want to do a photo booth but I think we are going to wait until we take care of some of our other big items first then see if we can fit it in our budget

I have been reading up on DIY photobooths! I think we are going to go that route!

I think you need to know your guests. Photobooths work at some weddings because the couple knows that their group will enjoy it.
I’ve been going back and forth about getting a caricature artist because I know that 50% of my guests will not be interested in that type of thing.

I’ll let you know in 2 weeks!

It was a blast at my friend’s wedding. We didn’t have one at ours because it was a couple weeks after hers, and we didn’t want it to seem like we were copying!!

We had a photo booth at our wedding, and I STILL get compliments from guests, 9 months later, comments about how much fun it was, what a great idea it was, etc. Most of our guests had never seen it before. I loved it! And I loved the guest book that was made with the pics! Totally worth it!

@7SEVENJ9: Exactly what I was going to say. Definately worth the money!

We are getting one for our wedding, but we were also debating due to the cost. However, we found some great deals on Groupon or LivingSocial.com or one of those coupon sites where we were able to get ours for a fraction of the price. It also comes with a memory book so that we will have our guests pictures and they can write us a note next to it!

Yes, we were hesitant at first bc of cost, but we are super glad that we did. It was a hit and everyone used it multiple times.

Thanks everyone! I’m convinced this would be a great and unexpected addition to our reception!
My fiancé and I just have to work out a few details and confirm it will fit in our budget!

definitely worth it! also inquire from your photographer! we wanted something bigger than a photobooth so more than say, 4 people, can fit into the picture at once. our photographers offered a “fotobar” so they set up an area with the backdrop and props and it works like a photobooth, you can see yourselves, you press a button and voila! pics and photostrips!
