I actually prefer smaller stones! I don’t like anything super flashy or gaudy so I told my fiance if he bought me anything big I’d kill him! lol

Most people around where I live have these huge, gaudy, over-the-top “look how much my fiance loves me” stones. Seriously I do not know how those girls function with those boulders on their fingers!

If you and your Boyfriend or Best Friend find something you like and can afford, it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks.

By The Way I LOVE all the pics everyone posted!

Small is fine — you can upgrade at some point later on if it’s important to you, or just enjoy your beautiful petite sparkly.

I don’t have an official carat weight on mine, because it’s an heirloom. But when I was browsing wedding bands the other day, I asked for an estimation, because I’m thinking about a contoured band and the specific angle of the curve changes with the size of the diamond. She told me it was about .25 carats. (As you can see below though, the setting makes it look larger.) This is perfect for me — I think I’d end up bashing or scratching myself with anything bigger or higher profile! Good luck finding the right lovely ring for you.

I wanted a dainty ring with just a little bit of sparkle, so my Fiance picked out a half carat (finger size is 4.75). It really suits my personality and I am more than happy 🙂

I have a vintage ring from the 1920’s that’s about .56  carats. I love the size and I wouldn’t ask for anything more. Plus it’s an excellent cut, near colorless diamond with no visible inclusions, so the quality is great even if it is on the smaller side. I’d say go for the smaller diamond!

@KeeKalena: Yea that’s the one. My first ring twin and it isn’t even for the e-ring or band, how odd, lol.

@JM1217:  i agree with you, the quality of the diamond is very important. and you have a lovely ring!

my SO and I choose to go quality over size. we ordered the centre stone seperately and the setting is going to be custom.

My ring is .3 tcw, so my center stone is definitely smaller than what you were thinking, but here it is.

I think small diamonds are perfectly fine! And to me, what you are describing is normal. A lot of the rings on here are a lot bigger than any I’ve seen where I live.

My Fiance and I dont have much money at all so my ring is actually cubic zirconia and i still love it so much because its from him and its my E-ring! it was just a $50 ring from walmart but i dont love it any less than i would love a $1000 ring 🙂

@dhaskett:  Thank you! I would rather have a smaller diamond with better color, clarity and cut as opposed to a larger diamond that isn’t graded as high!
