Mine is 0.6 Ct center stone and the ring size is 3.75.
mine’s .3 carats total. There are tiny diamonds on the band and the center stone is something like .25 carats. 😀 The center stone looks bigger, though, because it’s in some kind of tricky illusion setting.
I love it…it was so affordable and vintage.
@isabellej18: It is perfectly fine to have a “smaller” diamond. My e-ring has a 1/3ct center diamond.
However, you said that you cannot afford a big diamond and a big fancy wedding. At the risk of sounding like an old married fart I would say to put your money toward the ring rather than the wedding itself.
DH and I were both in grad school when we got married. We had a “big” wedding, mainly to please our parents (and we paid for most of the wedding ourselves). Yes, we had a blast and we have a lot of great memories, but we could have had just as great a time, with as many memories had we had a much smaller wedding.
Looking back, we could have spend that money so much more wisely, and I thought we did a pretty good job of doing things inexpensively (ie. we didn’t give out any favors).
We should have spent that money on our rings – things you will have – rather than one day that is over in a flash and on details that no one will ever care about except you.
Just another perspective.
My rings together are just under 1/2 carat, They are PERFECT. I wear a 10.
I’m not sure if anyone suggested this already, but why not get a plain wedding band? That way you could put more money towards the diamond on the e-ring and possibly the wedding. I am in NO way suggesting that there is something wrong with smaller diamonds! I think the size you’re thinking about is absolutely perfect, and I have a smaller diamond too. I’m just suggesting b/c that’s what my DH did and what I also have seen alot of my former jewelry shop customers do as well. Plain wedding bands are just as pretty as diamond ones! Also, I like the other bee’s suggestion of looking at estate jewerlry. You might be able to find a gorgeous ring at a nice price.
Mine is .5 and I think its perfect!! I love it. And I have rather large fingers (size 8)
did i already post on this thread? maybe…lol
here is my half carat center stone
Here is (hopefully) clearer pic of mine. My centre stone is just under 0.4 carats.
Yes Yes Yes it is okay!!!! I agree with the other Bees who have said that it is the sentiment behind the ring that counts, not the size of the stone. It makes me very sad actually that some feel they need to have a large stone in order for their ring to be beautiful. The love behind your ring is what makes it beautiful whether it is a 1 carat or a .01 carat. Focus on all of what that ring represents and will bring into your life, a marriage, a partner, children (if you want them), a best friend, etc. I think it is also important to note that perhaps not all of the larger rings you see are diamonds, there are many girls with beautiful moissy rings to achieve the look that they wanted but without having to shell out the equivalent of a down payment on a house. Get what is right for you and Fiance, your ring will be beautiful regardless.
mine is 0.25, on the smaller side than most of the ladies in this thread and i love it! Plus you can upgrade when/if you have more money some day. I might do that. And even if i do, i don’t think i would get as big as 1 carat. I would want maybe 0.5 – 0.75 carats max. And i would only want a bigger one so that the heart shape of my diamond is more pronounced. Either way, i love mine right now and i have been happily wearing it for almost 3 years 🙂
