Too many comments to read at work but YOU CAN HAVE A DESIGNER DRESS in less than 3 months. Just do a google search for one you like (have the designer name and dress number), then order from one of the hundreds of Chinese manufacters. I got mine in 2 weeks from ordering and it’s 97% identical to the original design-their rosettes had a slightly different technique that you would only notice if directly comparing. The biggest hold up was getting fabric samples shipped from China and the the language barrier was sometimes problematic but the one I worked with had great customer service.

They say it will take 40 days, but I ordered during busy season and it was 2 weeks with shipping. And it’s custom to your exact measurements, not just a size 10 or whatever. So less tailoring if you do the measurements well.

Also realize that with a short engagement (ours is 3 months too), you wont’ have much time or opportunity for engagement parties, bridal showers, and bachelorette weekends. We’ve had a heck of a time fitting some of those in, and have had to skip others. That is probably my biggest regret is not getting to really celebrate this stage of the relationship.

You can definitely do it. Adopt “less is more” as your mantra and dive in. Be unapologetic about saying “that’s not our priority” and cutting out a lot of the extras that drive up costs (and stress levels) – and you’ll be the happier for it!

For a dress, check out Brides Against Breast Cancer. (bridesagainstbreastcancer.org) They are having events in Washington DC and Baltimore over the next few weeks. You might be able to find something fabulous and affordable in your size (or close) at their event – worth checking out!

i did mine in 9weeks.. and it was AMAZING!!!!

we originally planned a 1 to 2 year engagement then decided what was the point in waiting? i got everything i wanted which i really didnt expect. my dress was off the rack but had the option of getting a rush order if i wanted. not dragging it out helped make decisions easier.

*be flexible

*dont diy to much

In some ways I WISH I had done a short engagement… when doing a long one, you run the risk of being overwhelmed because there are just too many choices and they start getting confused.

I’d say… if you want to do a short one and can pull off your venue/caterer in that time… GO FOR IT!  And good luck!
