We were so blessed to have a family friend coordinate for us. It was so so so helpful for the rehearsal and the day of the wedding, if for no other reason I say do it for those two days. At the wedding everything happened so fast we forgot about everything and she was there to remind us and keep everything on schedule and I’ll be forever thankful for that.

1000% yes!  Someone has to fill the coordinator role at a wedding and it seems like for your venue it a would end up being you or a family member that should be enjoying the day.  It was the best money I ever spent at my wedding.

I’m not having a wedding coordinator. Our caterer is pretty much acting as the coordinator, she has/will set everything up, which is fantastic on my part! They set everything up from all decorations, to the wedding favors on the table!

@cieritaqt; I found a coordinator who is just going to be helping us through the set-up, ceremony, and pictures. She’s only $90/hour in a pretty expensive area on the East Coast. Maybe you could ask for an hourly rate?
I hired one after I saw everything that went wrong at my friends wedding. I just want her there to put out the fires so that I don’t have to stress and so I don’t have to be anything but a bride (as one of the other bees said)!

@cieritaqt:  we did it on our own and really it wasn’t all that much work. Things went very smoothly because we had everything worked out with our vendors beforehand. Having said that, it also depends on how elaborate your wedding is. If you think you’re gonna lose track and something is going to go terribly awry then maybe a coordinator is worth it for you.

Total waste of money, IMO. I didn’t have one. I organized everything myself and delgated certain things that were very important to family members, and everything worked out wonderfully. If you think that you have a person or two in your family who you can rely on for certain things, I’d say you don’t need one.
