I need help with the great shirt/tie/vest debate. We rented my fiancé a black jacket and a white shirt which we paired with a light ivory vest and tie. I really like the combo because it did not wash out his face like the all white combo did and we did not have to go with the ivory shirt that was a lot yellower then the vest and tie. Things were all good till my family and friends put in their two cents. Everyone says you have to commit to one color! Do you agree? Anyone have pictures they could share of a white shirt with an ivory vest and tie?

We’re having the ivory vest and tie but went with the ivory shirt (my dress is also ivory though). I’ve heard that it can be worn either way. If you saw it in person and liked the way it looked, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think it makes the ivory look dirty.

I’m wondering about this as well. I plan on having my Fiance in an ivory vest and tie to match my dress with the rest of the guys wearing dark purple vests and ties. I originally envisioned all of them in ivory shirts but I’ve read a lot of other posts about it just not looking as good as a crisp white shirt so now I’m torn.

I don’t think the contrast looks bad at all… The jacket he will be wearing will hide most of the contrast, really all you will see is the collar peeking out.
And when FH finally takes the jacket off you guys will be partying it up at the reception and no one will give a hoot. 🙂

We did white shirt and ivory vest. The ivory shirts all looked too yellow to us.
