@Char86:  I had trouble choosing any dress! Regardless of my opposite issues, I do not envy you yours, either! Aaaand…this has been the most unhelpful post ever. I’m sorry!

@Char86:  I don’t get married until 2024 as well and I already have a dress but am continuing to look. I know it sounds bad but there’s a story behind it.  I got engaged this past Christmas. My sister started encouraging me to look around the internet for the style of dress I wanted early this year.  I stumbled across a completely out of the box dress, but one that is SO me.  It was last season and was going out of stock and on crazy sale.  So I scooped up the last one of my size without trying it on (was pretty certain it would fit, its flowy and empire waisted).  Having ordered this dress without getting the experience to try on dresses, I decided I was still going to try dresses on for fun.  When I did, I realized I could not imagine my wedding day without a lace dress (the other one was not lace, it is a light faded floral print in fact). So I have decided to wear the flowy dress that I already have for the reception because it will be comfortable to dance in and I will be continuing to look for my lace dream ceremony dress.

For me, every dress that I have tried on since the one I have has been meh.  All very pretty, but still looking for that special something.  Who knows, perhaps I will end up staying with just my current dress for the whole wedding.  Who would have thought an impulse online buy would be the dress that I love the most!

Don’t panic yet! You have plenty of time to find that dress, enjoy the experience of trying on dresses. You will find it! 🙂

I definitely had this experience! It’s just hard because there are SO MANY gorgeous dresses out there, and with so many different vibes – I loved the princess ballgowns and tulle, but I also loved ones that showed off my body more. I loved lace and bling, but not too much of either at the same time. There were so many competing looks that were all equally gorgeous, it took me forever to choose just one!

At first I just went with the dress I’d always had in my head – which was a princess ballgown type dress. And the I had major dress regret because I didn’t even try a lot of the other styles on, and I wished I’d gone with something a little more grown up. So I went and tried on some mermaids and such just to get it out of my system, and I did end up selling my original dress and purchasing one I loved that was more of a compromise – it still flowed out and had my tulle, but with a low waist, so it showed much more of my figure than my first dress that started flowing out much higher up, just a bit under the bust.

I felt like that for a long time. I had 3-4 dresses that I really LIKED, but I couldn’t choose one and I kept looking at pics and not being able to choose one, but also feeling annoyed because why wasn’t I getting that feeling about THE ONE, you know?

Anyway I went to one more dress shop. I’d tried on about 40 or so and was starting to think “OK after this trip I am going to just weigh up the price/pros/cons and choose one of those lovely dresses’ and lo and behold I found the perfect dress. I know if I didn’t commit then and there that I would do the same thing, look back at pics and second guess myself. So the deposit is paid, I won’t be shopping anymore and I can’t wait to wear my dress!

I think there is (at least one) perfect dress out there for everyone, but I would have been happy to bite the bullet and choose a dress I liked a lot but didn’t get that feeling about. I think I would have grown to love it.
