Darling Husband surprised me at times when we were planning the wedding. I wanted a sweetheart table, and he was arguing passionately for a head table. He even chimed on the length of my veil, and he even knew the difference between buttercream and fondant.

Not so much wedding-wise, but somehow, between his grandmother and the Army, he learned ALLOT about etiquette. That being said, it surprises me how often “tacky” comes out of this straight mans mouth ๐Ÿ™‚ LOL!

He has surprised me, however, with his involvement. Last time I was married, I had to call everyone for addresses(including HIS family, some I’d never even spoke to, much less seen!). Fh has been dutifully calling his friends to get addresses, and it’s really helped my stress load. Usually, he’ll get them while I’m in our online guest organizer/address book, or if he gets them through text, he just forwards them to me.

He’s definitely weighed in on cake. Cake and cheesecake are his fave desserts, and he can’t stand a crappy cake! LOL. He also helped me pick colors, my dress silhouette, etc.

My Fiance knows a ton about weddings! He has always been such a romantic – when he was a teenager he taught himself the 4Cs. He’s one of those guys who’s comfortable listening to opera or cooking, as well as talking politics or drinking whiskey or beers with the guys. A quote from my mother when we all were at his place: “Oh he has a KitchenAid?! He’s a keeper!” ๐Ÿ™‚

Hashing out wedding details been a wonderful opportunity for growth as a couple. We’re able to come to some great decisions… for example, we were talking cake flavors. I said, ‘I have never liked vanilla, and sort of dreamt of having a chocolate wedding cake.’ He said, ‘I agree with your thoughts on vanilla, but I’m not sure about chocolate per se… HOW ABOUT RED VELVET?!’ And we both are thrilled! I’m very blessed that he’s as excited as me – if not more – about all of the planning and marriage prep! He is very wedding wise, and in general a very knowledgable man, who I am glad to have by my side!

I am occasionally surprised by how much my Fiance knows! He said the same too, about mermaid dresses :p hahah, he doesn’t like them. But I am much more excited that he’s SO INTO it! My girlfriends got me this huge pink wedding planner book, and i’ll come home to Fiance sitting on the couch with the book open next to him, and him looking at wedding color schemes online hahaha. It’s so adorable.

Not abouts weddings per se, but when it came to making invitations and planning out where the table and chairs go at the reception, he definitely has an eye for that. But mostly he simply tells me, “Whatever makes you happy,” which is surprisingly annoying, lol!

Fiance and I went into JoAnn Fabrics a few weeks ago, I stopped to look at the fake flowers, so see how fake/real they looked and he asked why I was looking at them. I said for the wedding…bouquet, boutineer, table centerpieces…he’s like “Oh, I didn’t know there would be flowers at the wedding..”  LOL..i got a nice laugh out of that.  He knows a lot, but clueless on “details”.  He said he’ll leave that up to me.

Not here… Our conversations tend to go.

Me: “Hey we need to do xyz for the wedding.”

Him: “I didn’t know that”

@awndrayuhh:  Mine gave me free rain… he kepts telling me just tell me where and when when I ask him things … however when I asked him how much to spend on a dress (I have not found one yet) i was happy he said 3k… its like omg i was thinking a cap of like 1 tops maybe maybe-1.5k cuz he tends to go more all out then me on things but omg omg omg 3k

(i didn’t even go to grad or ever wear a gown save for when I was a moh and I didn’t get to pick that) so i am like soooo pumped that he wants me to be able to go all out… most of my friends have spent 300-1000 on dresses so 3k was like insane to me i know alot of ppl spend alot more or alot less but I was touched he gave me such a high limit(it is to me at least me it is)

happy dances I think he wants me to wear something amazing that day so i was a lil taken back he would know that gowns can really be priced high sometimes

Mine has so many opinions, but doesn’t know any of the “terms.”  I take him dress shopping (and he’s darned good at it), and he’ll be like “I don’t like the things where the skirt is bunched up on the bottom.”  “You mean the pickups?”  “YEAH, those, I don’t like them.”

Similarly, he calls mermaid dresses “skinny leg dresses.”
