Every since I was little I have been so scared of thunder storms. It’s horrible and I wish I could be like one of those people that sits on their porch and enjoys watching natures light show but the thought of being killed doesn’t do it for me lol. Of course weather.com is predicting strong storms to move through my area after midnight and tomorrow night as well so that means no sleep for me! Or my dog for that matter. Anyone else share the same feelings about thunderstorms?

YES!!!! I have this phobia too. You are not alone!
I know in my head it’s not rational, but that doesn’t change how I FEEL when a storm rolls through. I handle them ok if I’m at home (or in some other building where I feel safe), if I’m with other people, AND if I have something to distract me as well. Otherwise it’s a heart racing, shaking, wide eyed kind of day/night for me :/

Not while at home, usually. When I was a kid, I used to love T-storms, but now that I’m older, I think I have a healthy fear of them, rather than going outside to look at clouds & lightning.
I hate driving in them, and I do freak out during tornado warnings since a few have ripped through my home town before.

I actually love extreme weather but I am TERRIFIED of driving in lightning. Every time the sky lights up I brace myself for a downed power line or my car getting zapped.

I hate them. Even inside. When I was younger I used to just cry and cry during them. It is an irrational thing (all about tornados and stuff I live in California). But it is so very very real to me.

The only thing that scares me is the risk of losing power. I’m a slave to the grid.

Yes. I get super scared. I’ve been known to burst into tears – especially if I am woken up at night by thunder. I am a bit of a wuss 😛

I’m so scared of them even when I’m in the house! I always think of my house getting struck or the huge ever green trees in our front yard. Awful I know, but hey anything can happen! Ugh Just thinking about it makes me nervous lol

I didn’t used to be scared of them at all, and used to actually really enjoy them. But in the past few years we have had power knocked out twice for a week each time (plus some smaller outages) due to storms, and so that has started to freak me out. Plus, with all the tornados that happened last year, storms always make me worry about that possibility now.

Here are the “song” lyrics from the movie Ted, in case you are curious and can’t youtube right now. You are welcome in advance.
When you hear the sound of thunder
Don’t you get too scared
Just grab your Thunder Buddy and say this magic words:
F___ you, thunder, you can suck my d___,
You can’t get me, thunder, cause you’re just God’s Farts!
