I will say that I won’t be at my healthy/ideal weight before the wedding, so I’m concerned I’ll look back at the photos and not like them as much.

I’ve only had one person tell me I should watch what I eat because I have to fit into a wedding dress so I just stared at them the whole time I was eating a huge piece of ice cream cake.

Honestly, after going through disordered eating for a good portion of high school and some college I dare anyone to try and tell me I ‘should lose weight’ because I will not tolerate it. Maybe I just give off that vibe of ‘don’t tell me what to do’, but how the hell do people not think it’s rude to tell someone else how they should look on their special day?

And I agree with everyone else–I love that dress. (:

ZebraPrintMe:  You look so good in your dress! Just beautiful, I am so sorry that your mum is speaking to you that way 🙁 I am also your age and get the same talking to’s from my mother. My dress arrived a week ago and fits so perfectly, and my mum is stressing I won’t fit into it for my wedding in August. She commented on my arms looking big and said she was glad that my dress is tight around the tummy coz it sucks in my ‘gut’.

It is hurtful when your own mum says these things. I carry my weight on my tummy as well and a little on my arms, and I feel like my mum thinks I am obese. You honestly look really lovely in your dress and if I were you I would try not to worry about those comments made by your mum. When she sees you all dolled up on your wedding day I bet those feelings won’t be so strong. I am feeling a little pressure to lose weight so I’m going to make more of an effort to make sure I at least don’t put any on, but deep down I know I just need to be happy and not stress over her opinions of me.

I think it’s pretty common. It sucks that people pressure you because that honestly doesn’t help in the long run (there was actually a study about weight loss pre-wedding/weight gain post-wedding that I made a thread about http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/newlywed-women-pack-on-the-pounds/#axzz31JYV9HAe).

If her actual concern was your heath and diabetes, I could get it, because she’s your mom and she is going to worry. If her concern is how you’ll be judged by family though, that’s much less okay.

I feel a lot of pressure to lose weight. I’ve always been justthisside of curvy, and have a big butt, big boobs, and big thighs. I was heavy all throughout high school and my first year of college. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was sixteen, so my weight gain in freshman year was explained. We got my thyroid under control, but I remained somewhat heavy. After my freshman year of college I decided I wanted to lose weight and I lost about seventy-five pounds. I mean it was a drastic difference, I didn’t do it in a very healthy way, but I kept it off for four years. In the past year I have put most of the weight back on due to slipping into a really bad depression.

I purchased my dress two sizes too small and just tried it on yesterday aaaaaaand surprise, surprise it does not fit. There is probably an eight inch gap to where the dress will clip together. My mother estimates I need to lose fifty pounds at least. I’m definitely feeling the pressure to drop the weight. If I can’t, I’ve made a $1300 mistake, so I am going to need all seventeen months to drop the weight.

ZebraPrintMe:  Yes! My mom and aunts are constantly telling me how to lose weight and/or make sure I “minimize my hips and thighs”. I am a US size 8-10 on bottom and a size 4 on top. It’s RIDICULOUS!
