I have wanted to so badly! But my mom has convinced me that it is horriable luck! Haha so I haven’t. I’ve carried things around the store many times and then finally convinced myself I shouldn’t by it! Haha!

Never.  I’m a little superstitious and I think it’s bad luck.

I haven’t purchased anything, but Darling Husband and I LOVE elephants.  Especially pink and purple elephants.  The other day, we were wondering around Target and there was an elephant decorated carseat displayed in the middle of the main aisle.  DH and I both stopped and stared at it for a good 5 minutes.  I asked him if I could go ahead and buy it and just keep it for the next 5 or so years until we decide to have kids.  I think he was going to say yes until this lady behind us started laughing at us.  🙁  I better be able to find that carseat in 5 years from now!

I bought one thing but thats it. I guess I do have a stroller as well (our company rents them) but it wasnt purchased for the intention of using it for our child. The one thing is I get very nervous about buying these items and then having issues conceiving so we avoid it.

@HawaiiBamaBride:  With carseat regulations changing all the time its a good idea to wait on items like carseats and cribs etc. I bet you can find an awsome fabric with your elephants and have a cover made for it when the time comes.

I didn’t buy anything for the baby until the 2nd trimester.

If we would have trouble TTC or if something happened and we lost the baby early on, I didn’t want anything sitting around.

Luckily neither of those things happened; but if we would have had a miscarriage, I would have thought of those early purchases as ‘belonging’ to the miscarried baby.

I already voted, but mine should be, “No, but I’ve definitely wanted to!” I can’t help but squee over the cute stuff that’s always at Target.

@HawaiiBamaBride – In addition to changing regulations that naturalysam mentioned, car seats have expiration dates; most expire 5-6 years from manufacture date.

Ironically, we also bought two elephants for our currently non-existent children about a year ago. We also have a small stash of books and recently, I found a great recliner for the non-existent nursery that I just had to have. As PP, I would wait to pick out cribs/strollers/car seats just in case they get recalled or make updates, but for stuffies and books, I don’t see what is the harm. Plus, depending on what generic items you stock up on, that just means less you have to buy in those 9 months prior!

I walked into a maternity store one time with my ex just playing around and ended up pregnant within the month. I didn’t carry to term however I have been SUPER paranoid since, and I do “EYES FORWARD” and keep walking every time I go NEAR the baby/maternity section at a store unless we are legitimately shopping for someone else. How crazy am I? LOL
