@mepayne:  Hmm….not with every dress I tried on.  I thought I looked fine and would be content with every dress I tried on, but I didn’t LOVE all of them. In the end, I really like the dress I picked, but I the one dress I really loved was twice the price I was willing to pay. Sorry, I cannot help…

I know what you mean. I certainly don’t love every dress I try, but I’ve tried on a lot of dresses and there are about 4 that I love. I’ve narrowed it down to 1 of those 4, but am still shopping…

Do you have pictures of you in the dresses? That’s what has helped me narrow it down. I’ve found that ones I love in person I don’t love as much in pictures. Then I can show the pictures to friends or coworkers to get opinions, which is mostly helpful too.

I did, I loved nearly all. I tried the top contenders on again, plus one more that I thought was it. I was down to 2 top contenders. I put the first on, and instantly knew. (1st, then 2nd, leaned towards the second, tried join the first, and knew.) It will get easier. My issue was that I liked the different styles, but the vision I wanted really helped narrow it down

@mepayne:  I did feel that way when I was shopping for my dress.  I kept waiting for that feeling you know…? That ‘This is the dress!” feeling.  Maybe I watch too much Say yes to the dress (lol).  But i ended up thinking I could get married in this, or this, or that.

I think I tried on maybe 20 or so dresses.  Even after I picked my dress and paid for it I continued to look at others.  Likely you are feeling this way because you see the dresses on you and they look good, right?!

My suggestion and what made me feel better about my choice is to ask yourself a couple of questions:

1.) Decide your style: Mermaid, ball gown, trumpet, etc.

Personally I was stuck between a ball gown and a mermaid style gown.  A ball gown because let’s face it… what other chance will you have to wear a huge poofy dress?! And the mermaid because I wanted something tight and sexy that would make my body look great.  (I am 27 and finally got back down to my high school weight because I want to look good! lol)

2.) Decide on your material.

I wasn’t too sure what I wanted but after trying on gowns I loved silk.  Then my mother had the bright idea of picking a lace gown.  I never thought I’d like lace.  I ended up picking a charmause satin gown (Allure 8861) but I’m not going to lie… that damn lace dress (Allure 2666) was stuck in my mind.  I even considered purchased a knock of version of the lace dress to wear to the ceremony (since my mom loved it) and wearing the other dress to the reception.  But then I thought I already spent so much?! So I’m just accessorizing.  I had to keep reminding myself… you wanted silk… that’s what you like.  This is your wedding not your mom’s… she already had her wedding!

3.) Do you feel comfortable in it? (And I mean.. could you stand to wear this dress on a hot/cold day.  You are a May bride and i’m not sure of the weather but you get me point)

I am a June bride with an outdoor venue.  The lace dress was so much heavier!  I knew that I would be more comfortable in the dress I chose.

And lastly, trust your gut!  Don’t second guess yourself or your instincts.  The more you think about it, the more you may confuse yourself.

If you get a chance post up some pictures and that way you can get opinions of how they look on you.  Or post pics of the dresses you are considering.

Good luck!

@mepayne:  Blame having a nice body that looks good in nearly everything 😉  No but seriously, me too.  I try to stay away from dress threads, but here I am – another failed attempt!

@mepayne:  Haha this could be the very reason why many Bees on here insist on NOT getting a dress until like 5-6 mos before your wedding!
