Hell no, a size 4 is not the average size! Not in bridals, anyway, lol. Those things run TINY. Here’s a tip–do not let a shop con you into ordering and partially paying for a dress just to let you try it on. A reputable shop will be willing to order a dress for you in the proper size (or close to it) so you can see for yourself what looks good on you.

The bridal shops near where I live only carry 12 or 14s for sample sizes…I’m about a 6/8 and had a hell of a time figuring out what would look good. Thus…I’m having a friend make mine now, lol. They refused to order one for me in the proper size so I could see–said I had to pay for it in full first. Lolwut.

Oh that sucks.  I am a Maggie bride and I found that most of the stores I went to had sample sizes between 8 and 12 – some were small on me, some were big, and some were just right.  Sizing in the bridal industry is bizarre…you typically have to order a size or two bigger than your street size for your wedding dress.  I am about a size 8/10 and I actually ordered a size 8 in my Maggie dress (which I was THRILLED about!)!  I don’t remember many size 4 samples…or if there were it was not in any of the styles I tried on.  Hopefully you can find something that is close to fitting properly so you can get a good idea about what the dress will look like when it is the right size!  Good luck 🙂
