We took pre-marriage classes before we were engaged.  It helped us figure out that we were ready to be married.  At ours, we watched a dvd for a bit, and then broke off for seperate talks- everybody just with their SO, no group discussion.  It helped bring up a lot of stuff that might not have come up otherwise.  Just be ready to learn/ talk about how you communicate, what you think about money, etc.

We did pre-marital counseling through our church with the pastor that married us. I’m really glad we did it together. It makes you discuss things that you might not otherwise, like household chores, the way you were brought up and how it will effect the way you raise your kids, etc. I would recommend it! Some topics were kind of uncomfortable, but definitely worth the time 🙂

our church requires the premarital counseling if you want to get married in the church and by the pastor. and our sessions are actually one on one. my FH myself and the pastor. i actually enjoy them. we go once a month. more so when the date gets closer and he has us do little exercise that help us realize more so why we love eachother, what about the other person bugs us (for lack of better wording) and how to overcome those things. it helps you see your problems or what could be problems and solve them before they actually become problems.

like arclee said, just be ready to talk. he may ask you really deep personal questions. things you may have not told your SO..not that youre not open and honest with eachother but maybe theres things that you guys didnt think to share with eachother.

ive found that the classes have helped FH pour more of his soul out to me and has really helped us.
