Have your thyroid level checked!  I’d encourage you to take a multi-vitamin.  I suffer from extreme fatigue but a lot of it has to do with my weight and some of the conditions I have (PCOS, IBS, Hypothyroidism).

@misspandy: I have had issues with that to. I was exhausted ALL the time and also had a chronic cough.

I was treated for asthma, bronchitis, etc.

Finally I went to a plumonologist who suggested I see an ENT.

Turns out I have severe acid reflux that comes up into my nasal cavity and throat. It causes excess mucus production and bronchitis like symptoms (I have no heartburn).

Since getting on reflux meds and changing my diet I feel much more rested because my body isn’t battling acid all night.

@misspandy: You might want to see if there is any possibility of reflux. Acid aspiration into the lungs can cause or aggravate asthma. And hiatal hernias (which are sometimes seen with reflux) can cause other stomach issues too.

You should try to limit the amount you sleep. I know that sounds like the opposite of what you want to do, but try setting yourself to no more than 8 hours a night. If you sleep 8 now, try going down to 7.5. Only use your bed for sleep and sex, and do any reading, relaxing, etc. outside the bedroom so your body knows that the bed is where the sleep happens. Too much sleep can be making you more tired as you’re not really getting restorative benefits. You want to maximize the sleep you’re getting. Also try to start working out in addition to your vitamins. Get out and walk or run or do yoga. Something. 1. It’s a stress reliever, and 2. It helps the body heal itself and adds energy. Get your blood and thyroid checked but also make healthy habits.

As for stress, it is a major drainer. We are constantly bombarded by information, images and sensory experiences, and while we dont’ have to worry about being mauled by an animal, we do have lifestyles that have grown exponentially more “busy” over the last 100 years or so. Try to tune out and meditate or just sit quiety with your eyes closed if you feel really tired. Just rest yourself.  It may help!

yes! But I’m 95% sure I’m pregnant (I’m testing Friday) so it’s normal.

Are you taking any medication?  When I was on an SSRI I felt like my greatest ambition in life was to go back to sleep.  It was awful.  No matter how much or little I slept I was exhausted all the time and had no energy.  Exercise, caffeine, more sleep, less sleep… nothing helped.
