I currently live 6 hours away from my hometown, but I am planning a wedding there for May. I have appointments with all of my vendors in Feb. when I am going to visit. My fiance probably won’t be able to meet the officiant or photographer until the week of the wedding. I know that it is helpful for those people to get a feel for who we are. Do you think we’ll have any problems? Anyone else plan long distance?

Destination Wedding. Yep. Doubt I’m even gonna meet most of my vendors.

I’m planning a Chicago wedding from Australia so I have yet to meet anybody besides the people who own my venue yet. I have skyped some of my vendors though, which was helpful. I’m moving back to Chicago in March and the wedding is in June so I’ll be able to do things like pick out linens and meet our officient then.

We planned ours from 3000 miles away…. I didn’t meet most of the vendors until the wedding day. My husband didn’t meet our Rev until the night before the wedding (she is a family friend on my side, so she’s known me for decades). We didn’t have any issues. We had a “go to” person for people to double check plans with… and Darling Husband and I didn’t stress about anything. It went smoothly! Don’t stress yourself about it… the nice things about most vendors is they’re professionals – they know what to do more than we do!

Me, similar situation. Fi and I will get married in Montreal (his hometown) and we are living in BC now… so 5 hours by flight.
So far, it has been quite hard. I want to plan everything on my own, but his mom ALWAYS gives her opinions. I have been very frustrated by her… and because of his I have argued with my Fiance for quite a few times. Basically she wants MY BOUQUET to have roses (I want peonies and she said peonies are too big), she wants expensive chair covers (I want to save money), I want flowers for the church decor (she wants bows)…..EVERY ITEM, she needs to give her opinion.
So to conclude, find a person that you can trust and won’t add too much opinions. You will really have a hard time if that person is bossy. In my case, she helps us to meet all vendors… so I don’t know how it will turn out…. wish me luck

14 hours away. I’ll have gone down twice once the wedding day hits. I did most of my planning over email. It made the process way easier in my opinion.

me too. Our wedding is on an island 30 miles out to sea! And also, the island vendors like dont believe in the internet, so no one has websites! Nuts! It keeps it interesting, though, I guess 🙂 Good luck!

Im 12 hours away from my hometown (new orleans). It’s been hard not being there and I have had to take several trips back and forth so far. It’s hard but it can be done!

I’m planning from Los Angeles for a wedding in Milwaukee. Definitly difficult but not impossible. I am getting everything lined up for a whirlwind weeklong visit in a couple of months. I also am moving about 4-6 weeks early so I can get everything stapled down. I am a total budget junkie so a lot of this stuff can be done online. I can’t wait until I get there so I can put it all together!

We live in Philly and are planning our wedding on the beach in Santa Barbara. Thank godness for our planner, talk about a life saver. We are heading out there on Valentine’s weekend to view our venue do the tasting, hair and make up trial and e-pics. I’m very excited and nervous at the same time.

16 hours drive/4 hours flight here. Fortunately, my mom is able to go in to places in person – caterer and florist, mostly. My parents are paying for everything, so I can’t just call and set stuff up. Great thing is that it looks like I’m pulling it off for under $5K.

Live in Houston, getting married in Orlando. Luckily, my mom lives there so she’s done most of the leg work for me. Also, we have a wonderful venue who bascially gave us a list of two of everything and said these are the best, they’ll help you with anything and everything. So far it’s been true.
