So my ring is pretty ‘plain’. A diamond solitaire set in platinum. It does have 2 peekaboo sapphires on either side, but no one really notices them. I love my ring and think it’s beautiful and suits my style but I honestly didn’t think that so many people would compliment me on it! At least once a week I’ll be out somewhere and a random stranger will compliment me on my ring. I mean it’s someone I’m interacting with, like the front desk clerk at the hotel I stayed at a few weeks ago, or the woman taking tickets at the football game I went to, or a new co-worker whom I’ve never met who works in a different department.
I mean I know my ring looks pretty, and it sparkles like nobody’s business, but I didn’t think that so many other people would notice it or react so strongly! Most of the comments are really emphatic “Oh goodness your ring is GORGEOUS!” and what not. It just surprises me how many people seem to like it so much.
Any other bees have the same reaction to their rings, especially bees with plain/simple rings? Feel free to post a photo as well! Here’s mine!

I’m the opposite – I’m actually surprised at the lack of compliments.
Even when we went home for our engagement party NOBODY but my mom and aunt asked to see my ring. Not even the Future Mother-In-Law or Future Sister-In-Law. Guess they think it’s ugly (it’s not.)

@skippydarling: I’m in the same boat. No one ever asks to see or compliments my ring.

Yeah, not really lol hardly anyone ever notices my ring or cares lol. It is unique and beautiful but no one notices unless their looking to get engaged/looking for an ering. I think in general people don’t notice others jewelry unless their like me & really interested in jewelry or work at a jewelry store lol unless of course you have like a massive 5 ct diamond!

I guess I’ve been surprised sometimes about who compliments my ring and what they say, but I think I get (or it gets?) a normal amount of compliments (most were when I first started wearing it, now only every so often, not frequently).

I think most people are very used to seeing mall-store-quality diamonds with poor cuts and inclusions, that are small, so when they see a larger, single stone ring that is clear and sparkly it gets attention.
I get complimented on my ring all the time. But it is hard to miss on my hand– a larger 3 stone that sparkles like crazy.

@futuremrste: I have been surprised, a lot of people have given me some really really nice comments about my ring, a few commenting on how big it is (it’s not that large…0.5ct with a halo so I guess it LOOKS big). I of course adore my ring and think it’s the most gorgeous one around but I don’t expect other people to think so as well.
Your ring is stunning!

@futuremrste: I too am often surprised by the numerous compliments. Mine is antique halo style and super pretty. Often folks will say something but other times folks just stare or continually glance at my hand. When I’m out dancing, at a restaurant or even at the grocery store. I appreciate folks admiring my ring and my fiancee loves to hear about the compliments I get.

@skippydarling: your ring is gorgeous! I reallly love it !

I get compliments, less so now that we’ve been engaged for a year. I also have a pretty “plain” style solitaire ring (which I love). The compliment I usually get is “Woah, that it very sparkly!”
It is very sparkly, though.
My theory is that most people are distracted by shiny objects. My mom & sister are for sure, and they still compliment my ring. I guess I don’t notice when it catches the light while I’m talking to someone or something, since I’m so used to it.

Yes! I love my ring but I didn’t think anyone else would! I was shocked at the compliments. At least once a day in class someone comments on it. Anytime I’m on the bus the sun hits it and everyone stars. Last weekend while waiting in line at a restuarant a lady took my hand showed her husband and said I want one like that. I was quite embarrassed. People stare and talk about it when they don’t think I can hear too. It’s so sweet.

I get a lot of compliments on my ring, usually when I’m out shopping or something where I’m interacting with someone for more than just a minute or two. I get compliments when I’m at work sometimes too ( I waitress). I have also noticed that it’s mostly women around my age (27) who compliment it.

I get compliments a lot — people usually say how different my ring is.

The only compliments I have gotten IRL are from jewelry store people when I take my ring in to be cleaned or something. They usually say something about the great quality of my center stone. I guess most people eaither don’t notice it or don’t think it is as pretty as I do! lol It’s pretty unique so I would not expect it to be anyone elses taste.
