We aren’t! I also didn’t have a bridal shower. For this it is partially because of Jewish tradition, but mostly because they make me uncomfortable and i hate going to them, so I wouldn’t make anyone else come to one.

I had a baby shower for a friend on saturday. There were 4 of us there. It was fun tho. We visited and painted some onzies and had some snacks. It was a good time.

EDIT: We also had it after the baby was born so every one came for some cute little baby snuggles. I thought it was the perfect little shower. It wasn’t sitting there watching some one open presents for hours or anything like that. It was just a nice little get together. Almost like a birthday party lol.

I didn’t care about having a wedding shower, but I was really excited about a baby shower.  I felt like the wedding was the time to celebrate the wedding, so a party about gifts felt unnecessary to me.  But a baby shower was the only time to really celebrate the baby with the people I loved, so I had a very low key but fun baby shower.

We didn’t have a wedding shower and it really doesn’t look like there will be a baby shower either. Like OP, our families/friends are really spread out, and we’re the first of our friends to have a baby. It makes me a little sad, because I would like to celebrate the baby coming with everyone, but I know the economy is hard and it really isn’t worth it for the family to drive to come together. My mom and dad are going above and beyond with their support though (they surprised us with a crib today!) and my Mother-In-Law is making us embroidered bibs. We definitely feel the love even without the cute invites and favors 🙂

We are skipping the baby showers and hosting a “Sip & See” after our baby is born. We’re thinking about hosting a pool party/cook-out and keeping it simple. My family has been very supportive of this decision but my DH’s family thinks we are bizarre for not wanting a baby shower.

Perhaps you could host something once the baby gets here!

I’m not having one this time (second baby, no shower it’s all on us!). First time I didn’t plan on having one either, but SIL surprised me with one!
