Everywhere I look, it’s the same thing… “natural”. Which to me usually ends up not looking natural at all, but a whole bunch of tans and peaches all piled on top of each other. I generally have some sort of cat eyes liner on everyday… sometimes more extreme than others, but at least a little wing. But everyone else seems to be trying to talk me out of it. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that was planning on a more unique makeup look? Maybe with some color, too? If so, any inspiration pictures would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Check out the post from Mrs. Spaniel today.. she went with purple lipstick and it looked fabulous!!

Thanks i will for sure. The same goes for hair, too (pics please!). As of now I’m thinking of some vintage waves… sort of like these. But…not sure how easy it will be to pull off, as I may not have a stylist (very diy wedding!)

Those kind of waves are very easy to do! And if you look better with a more exotic look in makeup (my mom does for one), go for it! I dig a heavy liquid eyeliner =]

Waves like those are easy! Just takes a little practice and a ROUND flat iron. You just coil your hair around the iron and gently tug it down and SPRING…waves at the bottom!

I have two hair styles that I am considering, and one if the same as the wavey long dos above-
With that hair style, i plan on doing a dramatic eye. Very bold and smokey.
The other hair styles is more bohemian, and with that styles- I’m going for heavy bronze on the cheeks, and gold on the eyes.
Forget the natural look!! That’s for every day!! This is our party!!!

I think you should wear whatever makeup you’re comfortable with. If you wear heavy eyeliner every day, but skip it on your wedding day, it’s not going to look like you in your wedding photos. Be yourself in the wedding! Don’t let others talk you out of it.

I’m definitely doing a very smokey eye for my makeup. With the wedding being on a Saturday evening in a contemporary art museum, I feel like it gives me license to be a little more adventurous!

I’m doing liquid eyeliner, with wing, smoky eye. That’s what I usually wear on occasions, and I would feel dressed down if I didn’t wear it on my wedding day. I love the sixties/seventies bombshell look, so I will be trying to keep that in the makeup style of Brigitte Bardot or Sophia Loren. Also love Penelope Cruz’s smoky eye look.
@crayfish Exactly. Mine is also on a Saturday night, in Vegas.

If winged eyes are your “natural” do it 🙂

I am also doing winged eyes with smokey!! Thats how I always wear my make up anyways!
I agree with you the NATURAL bridal look is just not me ..I love my mac makeup;)
If I were to do natural I would feel naked..Smokey eyes are sexi!!! lol

I think that when it comes to your makeup you should do whatever YOU want, and forget other people trying to talk you out of it!
Personally, I will be going with the “natural” look, but if you’re interested in really making a statement, I would suggest that you try googleing “Indian bride makeup”, I’ve seen so many pictures of gorgeous Indian brides with very dramatic makeup!

I’m going for a Old Hollywood glam look, and using this pic of Sienna Miller’s hair and makeup for inspiration. I’m also gonna try to rock the birdcage veil. Fingers crossed! 🙂

I am going to do a heavy eye!
I have blonde hair and blue eyes and I wear Black liquid liner everyday! When I go out for special occasions I make a cat eye and do a smoky eye with shadows.
I don’t want to do my everyday look for my wedding so I will probably be doing a heavier eye as well!
The only thing I worry about is the tears! LOL

thanks so much for the pictures everyone! i love them! especially sienna miller’s hair… since it’s what i want AND blonde like me, so it’s easier to imagine!
@pharmy i’m gonna have to practice that iron trick. i also have fine hair…LOTS of it, but still fine. so sometimes it doesn’t hold a curl for very long.
@starbright333 love the 60’s hair/makeup look! i’ve decided i want to look a little bit bombshell, a little bit hippie 🙂
@Monkeygirl i’m also trying to make a birdcage veil for the ceremony! i found this link and i’m hoping it helps. http://www.ehow.com/how_5914725_make-birdcage-blusher-veil.html
@Future Mrs. Martin i worry about tears, too! i’ve heard about that gel liner but never used it… do you think that would be more waterproof??
