Not sure of uplighting costs in your area.  You might want to consider amber instead of yellow.  Similar colors but the amber is great for the ambiance and is a better color for photography. My profile photo has amber uplights.

We are getting extensive lighting done at our venue (art museum in San Diego). Our uplights were about $30 each to rent. YOu will also have to pay for the labor/setup/etc – so keep that in mind. I think our company was really reasonable with their labor costs! We are getting uplighting on a lot of columns and architectural features (about 25 lights), pinspots on all of the table centerpieces and cake table, down lights on the buffet, and a color pattern light on the dance floor. I think it came to about $1000 all told. Less than I thought for such an intricate setup.

We’re doing uplighting in our tent – 50 x 110 – in amber. They generally rent the lights for $50 apiece, but agreed to light the tent with as many as necessary for $500.

I’m using them! They cost us $40 each, and I think they will be worth every penny! It completley changes the look of the venue!

We had DIY uplighting.  We bought the lights, etc. before the wedding.  We were able to sell them after the wedding for almost as much as we paid, so the cost was pretty trivial.  Details on what we did and how we did it can be found at this link.

My cousin owns a lighting business and my family has been in the rental business for years….let me tell you, uplighting is SO worth it. Along with darker linens. 🙂 A lighting rental company should come out to your venue and recommend colors and how many uplights you’ll need and where to put them. Good luck!

Up-lighting is the bomb! Up-lighting can change the entire atmosphere of a venue! I feel the same way about LED lights!

You can by Florylites at  http://www.codwholesale.com

I bought can lighting at our local Big Lots store for 10.00 each! Then go buy colored blubs if you don’t want to hire  a lighting company!

They have the best prices that I have found! You can get submersable lighting of florylites with on off switches! I love these lights! Great for everything!
