Well crap. I’m 5’7 1/2″ and I always thought men liked tall women–not that I’m quite “tall”, but I am taller than average. I’ve always preferred men around 5’10” or 5’11”.

My brother is over 6’6″ and very muscular, and his girlfriend is 5’2″ and thin.

I dunno about all men, but I know Darling Husband prefers short women.  He tells me that often.  I’m 5′ tall, and our 10 inch height difference makes him feel manly.  He says I’m the “perfect size,” and I’ve had other guys say that too.  I think I’m almost too short (it’s hard to find clothes that fit), but whatever makes them happy.

Other couples in my family include my sister (who is also 5′) and her 6’5 husband (he’s HUGE), and my 5’6 mother and 5’7 father.  My dad didn’t like for my mother to wear heels early on in their relationship, but he got used to it.

Really, though, I think men just like women, especially attractive women, whatever height they are.

I never knew that! I thought men prefered an average height in a woman so that they could still be taller and I have certainly never considered my height (5’2″ on a tall day) an advantage. When I was younger I was picked on a lot because of my height and was always put in the “friend zone” – I was described as cute and fun but never attractive.

While I’ve gotten used to being short and my SO actually loves that and finds me super attractive (I believe him :)) I’d still be a lot happier with a few extra inches. Now it’s not to impress guys but to be taken seriously – a lot of people, especially men, in a professional environment seem to think it’s okay to intimidate a short woman who looks very young for her age by towering over her. Not cool!!! My heels are my best friends.

I’m 5’4 and I considered that average? not short? >__> even slightly above the national average, ha. I don’t think my shorter friends (5’2 and below) get more attention. actually I find guys prefer around 5’3-5’5, which is pretty average imo.
