My lovely ering is starting to get a patina. It’s palladium and has the dull scratch marks on the bottom. It also has a few dents on the bottom of the ring. I was just wondering if any platinum or palladium bees have any experience with the buffing process. My ring was purchased online so I don’t have a maintainence policy. Can I walk into any mall jeweler and have them do a quick buff? I know palladium is less common, so will this be a problem? Is this expensive?
Should I buff my ring frequently or can I get by with once a year (do you think more wear and tear would be more expensive to buff so it would be cheaper to pop in every few months?)
Are there any circumstances of dents being difficult to remove?
Any advice would be great 🙂

I don’t know about palladium, but I’ll tell you what I know about my platinum rings. The jeweler we got our rings from offers to buff my rings at the same time that they clean and inspect it. I didn’t get it buffed the first time they offered, so when we had been married for about 6 months and I got my platinum wedding band buffed, I was amazed! It shined like new!
I don’t know about palladium, but I think it would be worth checking into. I would suggest that you don’t go to a mall store (they might not have much experience with palladium, they’re not always as concerned with keeping you happy so you keep coming back, ect.) Ask friends if they have a favorite local jeweler and see if you can get it buffed there. It probably wouldn’t be that expensive (if they even charge you).

Mrsbeth- thanks for the feedback. That’s my worry- I haaaate the idea of leaving my ring at a mall store, especially if I can’t see what they’re doing. I’ve had some bad experience with mall jewelers. My city isn’t that large, but I’m hoping I can find a local jeweler to do some ring maintenance for me. Def one drawback of ordering online. Yes, my ring was a steal, but now I’ll probably have to pay to get it buffed every 6 months for the rest of my life, lol.
How long did it take them to buff your ring? Minutes? I’ve heard if it has really bad dents it can take along time.
