My Fiance and I have seriously been talking about changing our venue. We are exactly 1 month away from our wedding.
We have started getting RSVPs back. We invited 132, and about 64 of them have said yes. We only have about 10 who haven’t RSVPs, so it isn’t looking good. Based on feedback from both our friends and parents, we were expecting right at 100, maybe more. People are slowly backing out for completely shitty reasons, but backing out never the less.
The minimum requirment at our venue is 102 to avoid room charge penalties (like…7k). We have an agreement in our contract that states we will pay a minimum of 110 plates. We knew if we had 105 people, paying for 5 extra plates would not matter. But 30 plates is huge. Plus, the venue has been extremely difficult to work with and keeps changing their rules and charges.
We keep getting texts/emails/calls with people saying “oh sorry can’t make it” for whatever reason. Some of them don’t even provide a reason, which I know they don’t have to. But when it is some of your best friends from college and their reasons are so obviously bogus, it makes you feel like crap.
Anyway, we are seriously considering finding some little church somewhere or a cheaper alternative if possible. We also have some other monetary insentives (some take the money and run suggestions) But, I would feel terrible re-doing the whole event lineup. Plus, how would you even explain that to people?? I am 1 month away and starting to panic.
