I haven’t used coconut oil much but I tried it again but this time mixed it in with a little bit of castor oil because castor oil is thick and its easier to use mixed in with coconut oil. When I’ve used coconut oil in the past so much hair comes out. I loose about 30+ hairs in the shower but when I don’t use it I loose about 10 hairs. I have really thin hair and I don’t want to loose all my hair because of coconut oil. So I tried it with castor oil and coconut oil and the same thing happened… is this normal?? Will I stop loosing so much hair if I keep using it so my scalp gets use to it???

Just curious, how are you applying the coconut oil? When it’s solid or do you heat it up in microwave until it’s melted? I have really thick hair and at first I was just applying it right from the jar to my hair. Then I was told to heat it up until it’s a liquid then apply. I find I don’t lose hair that way. Hope that help. 🤷♀️

what kind of coconut oil do you use? It needs to be unrefined, cold pressed organic coconut oil.
You could not be washing it out well enough, leading to clogged follicles. coconut oil is also a protein treatment so of your hair is protein sensitive, you could get a bad reaction. Make sure to never brush your hair with the oil on as the oil will harden the hair and make it more prone to breakage when on.
Make sure to reallllllly wash it out well, condition after and do not use more than 1x a week.

You may be drying your hair out if you’re over using coconut oil. I wouldn’t use it more than 1-2times weekly. Have you changed your diet, brush, hair products, etc?
