I have the same problem.  I can’t print in black & white because there is a color cartridge installed but it won’t print period without the color cartridge installed and it puts an error if you put a black on in place of the cartridge.  I can’t win!

@memorialbride13:  LOL YES!

Usually the problem is something wrong with the drivers.  Also, some printers only install the drivers on one USB port so make sure you’re consistently using the same port.  If nothing else, turn off your computer, turn off the printer, start up your computer, wait until it’s settled down, turn on the printer and then hit print.  May I ask, what type of printer are you using?

Printers hate me. I gave up trying to print things years ago, and either email them to my SO to print or write down what I need printed. It’s just not worth it.

I threw my old printer off a 5 story building. It was amazing to watch it smash into itty bitty peices. Totally worth the fine I got since i did it off my old dorm building.

@harleyq:  I hated my HP photosmart all-in-one.  I had so many issues with it and the cartridges were more expensive than just replacing the HP. I ended up getting a canon and like it a lot better!

@harleyq:  My advice, get a cheap canon model or similar.  The life of printers aren’t that great.

@harleyq:  Seriously. I have the same problem and have no idea why, technology is not my friend–they always break on me, print with invisible ink, or just don’t print anything at all.

P.S. The HP printer I bought on sale last year is now sitting in my closet. It had a good few months of life.

You are not alone!  I have the same issues with my printer at home.  I hardly ever use it because of my frustration with it!  It is a newer printer too, but I still have issues with it.  It is supposed to be wireless, but the connection never works!  So annoying…
